steam VR Crash on startup
« on: September 21, 2024, 04:36:25 PM »
Just started crashing today out of the blue...anyone else having a Steam VR crash?  Of course it takes AH down with it when it cashes...I did try to run it without Aces High and it crashes and shuts down even by itself.

Update: possible G2 hardware failure even though it has a recent cable replacement...it even crashes WMR as the G2 becomes active. Might just be time for an upgrade replacement.

Sorry to hear you’re having potential G2 issues.  My SECOND (warranty replacement) had its own set of frustrating issues.  So much so, that I’ve quit using it.  HP’s lack of customer support and erratic performance issues of the second G2, make much it more relaxing to not use.

Been following the gents on the Pimax thread for future consideration.

Update  Fixed:  In the end it was software related , I had installed a program called Sordum that will stop my Win 11 updates to 24H2 which will kill WMR and the G2.
For some reason the registry changes that Sordum makes affected the Windows Mixed Reality Portal and would cause an instant close, after I turned off the update protection in Sordum the WMR Portal worked which let the G2 start and everything fine.  I still need to prevent the next Windows update so I'm going to try the little exe program"Incontrol" next which hopefully will work and prevent the WMR killing update.

Puma44 I agree the G2 support now sucks...it is unfortunate because it still is a great headset considering it is 4+ year old tech.... Im just milking the G2 along for a few more months and will most likely update to the Pimax unless something better comes along...if my G2 had died I was ready to buy the Crystal Light about a week ago...for now I got a short reprieve.
