Tokarev's La-5F

[Greebo]

This is the first of a batch of early war Soviet skins requested by Devil.

This La-5F was the mount of Major Moisey Stepanovich Tokarev, CO of the 30th Guards Fighter Regiment. On the LH rear fuselage were painted 12 victory stars and his HSU with Oak Leaves decoration. Tokarev was killed on the third day of the Battle of Kursk. Despite being ordered to cease flying on operations he took over the aircraft of a novice pilot and flew off to engage a force of 109s and Stukas. Accounts differ but the most likely story is he was bounced and shot down by a couple of 109s that attacked out of the sun.
