This early Sherman M4A1 fought as part of the US 1st Armored Regiment in Tunisia in 1943 until it was knocked out during the retreat from the battle at Kasserine Pass. The tank was originally painted olive drab but the crew added a camouflaging coat of mud and water to better blend with the desert terrain. The yellow insignia, turret ID band and company markings were all standard for this campaign.
