My New Fiber

I have had fiber now for a couple of weeks. Really liking it. As I said in another thread a couple of months back, Ezee Fiber was installing in out neighborhood. Surprising as we are surrounded by pastures and cattle. They completed the install and I switched off my Xfinity. WOW!

With Xfinity i was paying for 600Mbps and getting between 250 and 400. With Ezee I am paying much less for 1000Mbps and getting  around 940 up and down. I could get 5000Mbps for what I was paying for Xrinity just cable internet. I can get 8000Mbps for just a little more. Fiber is definitely the way to go.

Don't know what "routers" they use but beware Sagemcom which is what Frontier uses.

I did not even look at their router as I use my own. I run a NETGEAR RAXE500. I have a lot of things on WIFI in my home. All lights, fans, pits, smokers. refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, TVs, computers, phones,  Generac generator, locks, cameras, A/C-heat pump, other monitors and devices for my dogs. LOL I am sure I missed a few things. We talk to everything in my home.

Same. I don't care if Alexa/Amazon is spying on me so long as "she" turns out the lights when I ask.

I grew up in an era before cable TV. Like most people I watched TV and was inundated with commercials. I'm immune to advertising. What else would they use any data they glean from me?

 Shuffler A True Texan home with grills n smokers and Margarita Machines connected ... I am using Xfinity only now for my internet and now they are advertising their new network made for gamers but to me it seems the same

I use a TP-Link Deco mesh. Works well. Almost never have to reset it. Used a Netgear Orbi mesh before and had to reset it maybe once a month.

Hah, Maverick, I'll remember that dad joke, I have a relative who is an installer with the local ISP here and always works with fiber.  I'll teach it to his kids, hah.

Every day I'm Shu-ffu-ler (LMFAO Party Rock in case others don't get it, as I haven't gotten to call you that in years) -  congrats on your new connection.  My uncle lives next door to my lake cabin home where it's pretty remote, and they just ran fiber out to it in late 2024, even though it's in the middle of nowhere.  He had pretty much the same reaction you did when they first switched it over from the crappy wireless he's been using (me too out there).  Price is lower, speed/service/reliability is a massive improvement too he's told me.

The lodge there is rented out constantly for conferences and such so the ownership board plunked down the $ to have a line run out to the campground, so now all the permanent residents who have homes there at the facility can benefit from getting in on the sweet fiber action.  I might get it there myself for the summer time I'm going to be spending there, so I'm looking forward to not being stuck with the crap wireless as in past years.  https://flexnetworks.ca/arlington-beach/  .  I've got 2 days to decide and still get in on their deal.

I've had it for 5 or 6 years now in the city, it's only 1mbit up/down synchro, but they are planning shortly to increase the max plans to 2.5.  1 is honestly been enough and great, but faster is always better.
