So 50 perks a day is what the bish horde gets for having zero opposition except one or two who feed thier score over and over.

50 perks adds up when it happens every morning EST and I believe it's a big motivational factor.

1) it's 25 perks each for GV/buff/Fighter, isn't it?
2) The nit horde is up while the bish horde is still abed and the nits win most maps because of that.
3) We're almost all of us possessing more perk points than we will ever use. Why would getting another 50 or 75 matter?

I'm not criticizing, just edifying. Tropical Thunder is the dominant squad when I typically log on (4AM PST) and they are mostly Aussies and awake when Americans and Europeans mostly aren't. So they roll maps while most of the AH world is asleep.

Just cause gldnbb thinks he's a general it doesn't make it so. Not everyone cares about winning a war and if i like the map I'll just .squelch and do my own thing.. sometimes he can really provide extra entertainment i guess it depends on your mood

There have been times when a bunch of players all got together and reported another player all at once just to get him silenced.  There have been times when this has been abused by groups of players.  So there is a system in place to stop people from abusing the report system.  I don't know if it is automatic or not.  But if it is automatic, that could explain the group squelch.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that. And that the abuse was punished appropriately. But what happened recently was unlikely to be some sort of automatic response thing.
Let's say someone posted that "so-and-so should be assassinated for the sake of America" and a dozen players hit the 'report' button in response. Unless HT is an idiot he wouldn't have put in place an automatic eject, because statements like that can happen. He or a mod would have been alerted to the uproar and then have decided how to respond.

Here's what I think happened. (Never saw the 200 comment on reporting gldnbb but let's assume it exists).

Several people reported bb. I was one of them, know of two others. Three is not a critical mass to get someone temporarily silenced, is it? So there were probably more, perhaps spurred on by this supposed 200 comment.
HT/Mod steps in because BB whined about it or some sort of automatic alert flashed. The 200 comment is seen, and HT/mod knee-jerk assumes that everyone who reported him had been involved in a calculated attack against him, and does the eight day chat ban.

And here we are! Some of us at least tried to use the report function as it was presumably intended to be used. But a bandwagon was jumped upon and therefore everyone associated with it was presumed to be guilty and now I am pontificating here and listening to Band of Brothers on YouTube (they're great if you like power metal! Creative and don't take themselves too seriously lol).

Bottom line, if my assessment is accurate?

Just don't use the "report" function. Let country text and 200 go to hell because you might get punished for trying to do the right thing. (I work for USPS, I should have known this by now. Sad).

Um.  Unless it's been recently changed, auto-mute happens just as you describe.  I think the magic number is 12, but I'm not sure.

It's a real problem, and has been for years, because lots of people know about it and abuse it.  Given HTC's limited resources, it's difficult to police the abuse.

I've little doubt that automute happens that way, but my argument is with the aftermath.

Automute happens after a critical mass of complaints. Were they legitimate or not? That's where HT ought to step in.

I get it it that this isn't black and white. A lot of ppl reported BB and he didn't use four-letter words or say we should assassinate the President. So, yeah, HT is right to at least consider the premise that BB is being unfairly targeted.

But my problem with the mod or HT is that he apparently knee-jerk assumed BB was being targeted for being an annoyance (he's annoying in general, but that's not the reason at least some of him reported him for specific things) and wanted to solve the matter in the simplest manner possible. No willingness (or time?) to get the context.
Poof! Short term problem gone!

The fact that this encourages the most toxic player in the game to keep doing what he's doing?

"I'll deal with that later if it might affect my bottom line."

My opinion anyway.
