Old guy with bad eyes requesting tips
« on: February 20, 2025, 05:52:27 PM »
The subject line pretty much says it all. When AH3 hit the street in 2016, the tracers and hit sprites changed. My crappy hit % got even worse. I gave VR a shot about a year ago and while I was impressed with the immersion, my eyes were strained and my neck had issues dealing with the rotation movements.
Long story short; we have a significant population of gentrified pilots here. How do you folks compensate for these things?

Glasses under my vr headset

That said the better resolution with the crystal light made everything smaller .. harder to see and hit than the vive pro before it..

I have prescription inserts for my VR headset I got from a place in the US called Reloptix. Great system. Great service. Saves scratching both your glasses or headset lenses if they rub together.

I just ordered a new pair of glasses just for use at the PC that are just straight up lenses. My current ones are varilux and are great when I'm out and about. I see everything perfect from distance or reading but at the range of a monitor I'm constantly moving my head around just to be able to read or see things clearly in certain sections of the monitor. They're literally a pain in the neck! Didn't consider that when I got them.

I've never really needed my glasses inside of my headset due to the brand of astigmatism I have... however, I'm just curious as to the cost of these lenses if you don't mind as things will only get worse  :O

They list now for about 80 bucks but are on sale for my Reverb G2. They're slightly different for different headsets. Check the site and see what they have.

Wow   Those are really affordable IMHO.  I'd better get to work on my honey-do list for an advance on my allowance.

Thanks for the heads up.  :aok

I play on a 55” TV.
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

Oh and if you end up buying lens inserts, you do not include any bifocal part of your regular eye scrip. It's not needed.

Old here with the neck issues as well. I cheat when I get neck sore, use the tophat. Really weird and disorienting when you release back to forward view, but it saves the neck. I have HTC Vive pro, the tophat works, don't know about Occulus or any others. AKelfy

A 55” 4K TV works for me. Taking the 70” when we get our next family tube.

I am just getting used to my new glasses which are progressive lenses. I play on a 32” curved screen monitor. No I am just getting used to my head tilt and how far I need to sit back from my monitor so stuff isn’t blurry

It might help to get a pair of computer only single strength glasses..they use your prescription from about 36" from your eyes..

I switch from bifocals to my computer glasses whenever I need to see clearly at about arms length..
