This is comical.  People hiding in trees not happy with folks using game tools to find them..

Once upon a time this game used to be about combat.

Maineac you run sorties purposely going afk knowing just to flash a field while you do work related tasks.  What do you think is more sweethearty?  The guy running film or the guy with no intention of attacking, going afk for sometimes hours?

It's a close race, but the prize is still last place.

In the previous year,   many months I'd get pulled away short or no notice.   It isn't easy watching/living with a Mother In Law with dimensia living at your house.   I would say I rarely,  intentionally parked off base.   Unless it was to pull some away from a horde or to make it easier for me to roll into a town after being searched for.     But I hear ya.   I guess in most aspects a lot in game is comical.   I digress and move on.   Everyone pays their $14.95/mo.    Oh,  and she passed away 2 months ago,  so I should be able to dedicate more time to ensuring I'm not being "sweathearty".    Carry on

Making a base flash also pulls defenders from another fight.

I think some are doing it just to get proxies. Great way to get kills by boring your opponent to death
Others even admit, they do it to get someone/group of folks to wait until you get sick of searching so eventually get the base flashing for long enough, they move in unopposed.

I dont like trash talking the game but the GV game has been so "gamey" lately. Invisible GVs, Players turning down graphics, hiding in buildings and main gunning planes mid flight.

I thought proxies didn’t count for anything anyway? Other than the kill count message upon a successful landing
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

Proxies are regular kills for scoring purposes (like k/d, k/h), but of course you get only 1 kill point for them.

I loathe the proxie kill settings. But I’m also not looking at data.

Getting any credit for doing nothing is s bit gamey, but it’s a Melee Arena, so…its the game part, events are the sim part of the product.

Agreed.  And they are often AFK for hours which can affect eny when there are low numbers.

I can say from experience of flying around a base under attack from GVs that I do not blame a single player from checking film to find out where they are hiding.

It's cheesey yes, but it beats flying around for 20mins wasting your limited existance looking at the same countryside going around in circles and search patterns because (In a move to piss off people interested in the High part of AcesHigh) the Icon distance was unfairly reduced to favour ground creepers.

You brought the dweebery upon yourselves and have no right to complain

Gv's should leave tracks that don't disappear until the vehicle is destroyed,  if ever and create dust while moving imo ... they have a Cloak of Invisibility now

To be clear..........   Defending a maproom against a swarm with no help online.......  No dweebery.   And I wasn't complaining.   I was pointing out it's checkenshet to do when you're rolling in a horde.    And I stand by it.   But again,  I digress.

i don't quite understand what the big deal is, if the "game" has a tool available to defeat your enemy why shouldn't it be used...
the only thing that really dies is ones ego, its not like you have to wait 12 hrs to re-spawn.

A lot has to do with what your priority is in the game.  That is what gives you the most bang for the buck.  I enjoy base capture, and base defense.  Others could really care less about bases won and lost which is fine.

Base defense as Maineac posted, against  a hoard is all about the final stealth defense of the map room.

I'm there with  you Randy1, for me it's all about the base captures/defense and winning the war.

 :aok

So often a map might be on days but the final map win or loss can be measured down to a fraction of a second.  That gets to be exciting.
