Any ideas
« on: Yesterday at 01:39:33 AM »
So this happens infrequently but enough to seriously bother as it usually nullifies all of my efforts to survive, here goes:  I will fly a damaged bird (sometimes hardly to heavily) damaged bird to safety and be in the process of ending sortie (usually not by using .ef) through the main UI and just prior to clicking a GREEN end sortie - poof, I’m dead and “XYZ” Player Shot You Down.

In every case I’m referring to I was Not pilot wounded, not vulched, not shot by GV on runway and not killed by incoming ship guns (not incoming anything).

It happened twice yesterday 6/3, I thought it was plausible that it was Gotcha shooting me with a GV’s HE round until I realized he was inside the VH camping… the barrier wall prevents seeing well enough to hit anything on the runway (assuming somehow you could get a round/mg to land in that 1-2 second moment just before I could click a Green End Sortie.

This exact thing has happened when far away (and multiple other scenarios) and trying to ditch, waiting for con that killed my engine to leave the area for me to get End Sortie to turn from Red/Yellow to Green and poof, dead, but no one shot me in the middle of that desolate forest far away from everyone and just was waiting on enemy plane to get out of range/zone/sector.

So most of the time this does not happen, what causes it to happen ever?  I’ve watched plenty of teammates sitting and waiting on the runway to get an assist from a fight they had to disengage but was still going on and predictable if they waited they’d eventually get the assist or possibly a kill, they don’t go poof…

This has happened roughly beginning about 1.5yrs ago and now often enough to bring it up. I have tried to think of every possibility of something legitimately killing me, but aside from ship guns when the base isn’t flashing and you’ve got a green end sortie snd you’re not PW, in theory you should be able to sit there like that indefinitely…right?

If it is a green end sortie then no one will get a kill and you will land.  If it is yellow than you will get a ditch.  If you took a single ping from someone and you bail or are ending sortie in enemy territory you will be killed if they are still in flight, regardless of distance.  If it's prior to you clicking end sortie then you were shot by something.

If you end sortie one wheel off the runway with any enemy bullets having hit your plane and the enemy pilot hasn’t yet ended sortie, he will get the kill.

If you end sortie with one wheel off runway and enemy is within proxy range, enemy hets the kill.

That’s not even remotely accurate…

Only if you are in a vehicle that has taken a hit and another enemy vehicle is nearby.  Planes can ditch anywhere in friendly territory, regardless of damage or nearby enemies.

If you are far away (or even in your own dar ring) and in a forest the end sortie will never go green, regardless of damage received or enemy presence.  Green is only for landing successfully.   If you arent close to a friendly base and you end sortie after waiting for the enemy to leave the area it is still a capture and a kill will be awarded to anyone that has hit you and is still in sortie.  If you wait for them to land you will still get captured, but they wont get a kill.

Change your settings to film every flight, then when that happens save the film and investigate.

Haggerty. good catch - waiting for end sortie to turn yellow for a ditch in that example.

Most, other examples I can recall the base is not flashing except like the other day with Gotcha inside our VH. I’m stopped center of runway (3-9 wise) and no sea ship gun rounds are coming in. And not PW… I have a green end sortie and poof, tower…
