So this happens infrequently but enough to seriously bother as it usually nullifies all of my efforts to survive, here goes: I will fly a damaged bird (sometimes hardly to heavily) damaged bird to safety and be in the process of ending sortie (usually not by using .ef) through the main UI and just prior to clicking a GREEN end sortie - poof, I’m dead and “XYZ” Player Shot You Down.
In every case I’m referring to I was Not pilot wounded, not vulched, not shot by GV on runway and not killed by incoming ship guns (not incoming anything).
It happened twice yesterday 6/3, I thought it was plausible that it was Gotcha shooting me with a GV’s HE round until I realized he was inside the VH camping… the barrier wall prevents seeing well enough to hit anything on the runway (assuming somehow you could get a round/mg to land in that 1-2 second moment just before I could click a Green End Sortie.
This exact thing has happened when far away (and multiple other scenarios) and trying to ditch, waiting for con that killed my engine to leave the area for me to get End Sortie to turn from Red/Yellow to Green and poof, dead, but no one shot me in the middle of that desolate forest far away from everyone and just was waiting on enemy plane to get out of range/zone/sector.
So most of the time this does not happen, what causes it to happen ever? I’ve watched plenty of teammates sitting and waiting on the runway to get an assist from a fight they had to disengage but was still going on and predictable if they waited they’d eventually get the assist or possibly a kill, they don’t go poof…
This has happened roughly beginning about 1.5yrs ago and now often enough to bring it up. I have tried to think of every possibility of something legitimately killing me, but aside from ship guns when the base isn’t flashing and you’ve got a green end sortie snd you’re not PW, in theory you should be able to sit there like that indefinitely…right?
