Tommy IS a monster.
Just a few bands he’s played for
Black Oak Arkansas (where his solo became famous), Ozzy Osbourne, WhiteSnake.

The epic rock drummer

And some who don't...

You'd think that they had made enough $$$ and had invested wisely earlier in their career so that this old men making noise calling it r&r music/noise embarrassment could be avoided..

Or is it their inflated egos that can't call it quits..

Yep. A lit of bands should have stopped in their prime. Stones are one of them.

The guy above should have been decades ago. I did 3-4 shows with him over 3 decades. It is the same exact show, no changes at all. The whole some girl brings flowers to the stage and he beats his guitar with them has happened every show for 30 yrs. Hated working that show.

George Thorogood same thing. Watched him pass out on stage from “playing to hard” 5 times over 30 yrs.

However, some artist still retain that creative skill into their 60s-70s.

The hardest part is giving up that praise. That crowd roar is like heroin to some.
Sad part is, many go out their not wanting to do it at all, its a job. They raised their standard of living and need to pay for it. Bought a $9 million home and records are selling much, so the road it is.

I saw Cheap Trick and Heart a couple months ago.

Cheap Trick was ok, a little out of tune, played their hits, one 'new' song. I mean, it's great they can get on stage and still rock it - Robin Zander was still dressed up as always and could hit most notes - his son Robin was on guitar and really rocked it and sounds just like his dad. Rick Nielsen and his son Daxx duo was pretty amazing - Daxx is a really good drummer. It's as if the boys are taking over for their dads. Amazing!

Then there was Heart. Ann Wilson rolled onto the stage in a wheelchair - FML - felt like I was watching geriatric concert. I felt bad that Ann is not in great health. Her sister Nancy however still is an amazing guitarist. Ann sounded pretty good and could hit most notes.

I think though that is my last geriatric concert. Anyone else feel the same way?

Ya, I’ve worked my share of these type shows.

But even like Zappas it won’t be the same. Probably shouldn’t. But sometimes better too. Van Halens meh.

Heart, Nancy was the voice Ann was/is the show, on several levels.

The rest, if it doesn’t have at least have 3 original members its a tribute band.
A lit of bands I did, at my level, only missing one member, except Synyard.

Jefferson Starship and Starship both only missing Grace Slick, but I think the replacements pulled it off.

Goes with the territory of growing old <shrug>
