We'll be back to waiting in line at the bank and licking those stamps for the snail mail. Online buying will die, local stores will prosper. Kids will be taught the basics and learn how to count change. Fading boomers might be called on for their experience in these things before they leave the building. This might not be a bad thing.

Nah, AI is here to stay. But you may not be.

They're already coming.

Remember, in the end, only AI can defend against AI.  We won't be able to keep up.

Who do you want to unlock Super-Intelligence first?

Out of our hands isn't...

I'm sure our leaders will make the best deals...

They will make sure everyone has their own chatgbt account/buddy which will love them unconditionally..won't matter where the AI databases are located to most ..why would it..

You will find it to matter quite a bit when they can break into any of your bank\investment accounts and the nuclear codes.

Elon was giving a speech saying AI and robotics will make us humans work 2 days a week.  I figured out the financing on this concept.  AI and robots will be the newest taxpayers.  They will fund us carbon units a life of luxury.

Well I take all Elon says with a grain of salt.

But I will say my Roborock and Mammotion robots save me at least two days of work a week.

The AI bubble is about to burst, which will require a bailout.

Problem is AI has not proven to make a profit, nor prove it will do as claimed. So bailout may not happen, instead dog eat dog out of the way. Bu then our money is giving away every day that doesn’t help the people.

This exactly. AI is very very expensive in terms of compute power requirements and energy requirements. Until recently AI has not been something that has delivered capabilities you'd pay for - but that is changing. During the period it was like that it was all about getting people involved, drawing the crowd in. Now they need to make money, and we will see how the model actually pans out.

At my workplace we are integrating and paying for AI functionality as part of our usual tools (for example integrated into Microsoft M365 or some of our security tool automation). This stuff is all marginal cost (usually bundled in).

We are just about to spin up AI analysis tools for things related to economics - to the point where some actual data center grunt with significant GPU capability is required. This will be interesting, as we will see the  true cost, and this will include peripheral costs such as securing such an environment against common AI risks.

From a security perspective AI is like the wild wild west at the moment.

This at least I will agree with.  It is a serious concern.

But with things like the DGX Spark, LLM are going to start being brought in-house.

My company does a lot of work with teams behind security walls.  We are looking in that direction.

I agree that there is a huge bubble in AI companies like there were in the early internet days.  There will be a bloodbath in consolidation.  That's healthy Capitalism.  Creative Destruction.

The technology, like the internet, is not going anywhere.

Consider this disturbing reality. 1/3 of the markets have now switched to AI investment. If the AI bubble strikes its going to hurt everyone. The last time this size investment was made was in brand new railroad invention.

It will no doubt remain with some successes. But will it live up to 1/3 market investment is a high risk gamble. Some are already getting nervous and selling off, as we saw with Nvidia this week.

Edit: I’ve been testing google AI for kicks. Same search subject several times, but have gotten some returns that contradict the one before it. IMO, I find it hard to trust 100%.
