Programming and Jumping the Gun
« on: January 08, 2002, 04:19:00 PM »
I am getting a new computer since a virus ruined much of my old one- and many AW combat films as well  :( ... Is it possible for me to program my CH F-16, CH Throt, and CH pedals using speedkeys on my old system, or should I wait until my new box arrives in Feb?

On another note, any recommendations on upgrading to USB from analog, or will my older controls suit me well in AH?

Gainsie - have you thought of partitioning your hard drive and installing Windows98 on one partition?  You can then use something like Boot Magic to select Windows 98 when needed to reprogram your CH setup.  This is what I do - though as AH is the only game I play now, I very rarely need to go into Windows 98 unless I want to change any of the assignments.  You certainly don't need to get new USB controllers!   :)

Good luck with the new box when it arrives - hope you have a good virus checker/firewall installed this time!

Thank's Flossy. When you get time, could you possibly send to me the procedure for partitioning my new hard drive, or will there be instructions for this. I will have factory installed Windows XP already so will theere be any conflict? I won't be getting it for several weeks, but the more I can read now the better.

Ooer, I was hoping you wouldn't ask me that!  This is where I confess that my system was setup like this by my son....  :o  - I just use it!  :)

However, I will consult with him and get back to you - unless anyone else answers first.... he is out at the moment, but should be home later today....
