TOD scoring suggestion
« on: January 12, 2002, 01:06:20 PM »
I was just perusing the scoring pages, and I noticed that discos after 30 minutes are scored as lost.
TOD is a gentlefolk's game with squad participation to enforce honorable gameplay; I don't see someone killing the connection to avoid getting shot down.  On the other hand, the latest version of AH has been known to lock up people's machines from time to time.  This should not be counted against squadrons.

I don't really like the post-30-minute rule either, and would prefer it if discos were allowed to rejoin their squadrons when they were refueling, but that's a different matter (and one that involves allocation of CM resources).  The scoring formula is simple and easy to implement.  Discos with damage should count as planes shot down.  Discos without damage should not be counted as planes lost.

I think a disco once for the sake of gameplay should mean a reup but your 2nd disco should count as a mechanical failure and loss of plane.

If you have been hit and disco it should give a kill.

I agree ding. Let me look into this and how it pertains to scoring.

The 30 minute rule was mine because the Setup CM had to handle all the discos. He had to open and close fields the whole time and deal with all the other problems that came up. Our first TOD was like this (and it was very difficult to do) so I put the 30 min cap on that. What they can do is join as a gunner for any buff that is out there. :)

If you disco you receive 50% of your score (earned points). If you die you receive 25% of those points. So we are giving a break to those that had a lousy connect. :)

points scored is all well and good (and while 50% sucks, that's not a big deal), but I'm objecting to the airframe being scored as lost.  Few undamaged disco planes are incapable of landing at the airfield (well, fuel exhaustion, but like I said, TOD is a gentlefolk's sport).

The light goes on!
Forgive the slow thinker.

Ok discos should not be counted as lost AC. I agree. I will get back to you on this one.

Are ditches also counted as lost? Many people got a ditch trying to exit on the grass strip because it had no rearm pad or hangar. My squad shows as having lost every plane, but most of us exited on the grrass strip and got a ditch for it.

Ok, discos no longer count as lost AC.

Raub if I recall ditches count for 75% if you ditch in friendly it is less (50% I am not sure) if you ditch behind enemy lines.

Hope that helps. :)
