Nuttz,
I was on last night while this was going on....I'm not sure it is a reason to really quit.  Just squelch the guy, who cares.

When folks get going on country channel, I look at it as a form of entertainment.  Or, hehe, as a future case study for some Sociologist on pre-evolutionary human behavior

Never met you NUTTZ but a <S> from here.

Danish,
Thats a HUGE stretch to say the least.  The majority of the posts here actually support Nuttz and are asking him to stay!

I need to get some of those glasses you have.

Absolutely right, Wobble.

Whatever happened to civility?  Try expressing regret at Nuttz' decision, praise his many contributions, and wish him well in the future.   Maybe if he got a ton of responses with those sentiments it would outweigh whatever happened in the MA and he would reconsider.

Nuttz, please keep your handle the same wherever you land, because you add a lot to a sim and I'd like to know where you are.  You are a credit to any community. <Salute>

Personally I deal with the MA by squelching channel 1 as the first order of business when I enter.  It's anti-social, but so are most of the loudmouths in the MA.

NUTTZ when the mongrels moved over from Warbirds I had a rough two weeks.  Came across a fellow (who is no longer here) who called me all kinds of colorful epithets on more than one occasion.  I came real close to closing my account because, like you that is not what I pay $30 a month for. I did not fly for several days and really stewed over what was said. Kieren and ghosth urged me not to and to inform HTC of the comments made.  I sent them a couple of screen shots.  I have no idea what they did or if my complaint contributed to his departure, but he is gone and I am still here. I am glad of that and I am sure he is not.

I hate to think of all the customers HTC have lost because of a few loud mouth obnoxious jerks that fly in this game. They show a lot more tolerance then I would because it is "a place of business" and as pyro has put it, their livelihood. Of course others think that freedom of speech holds a higher value then an individuals dignity. Freedom of speech is not absolute in "real life" nor should it be in this community.

I hope you stick around.

To me it seems more and more clear every day that the survival of _any_ online media, be it a game or chatroom, is totally dependent on effective hosting.

It's the responsibility of the host to protect the users from the few anarchic idiots (sometimes as old as 8 years old..)

Kids nowadays are brought up so bad that they can not control of what they do publicly. Therefore they must be punished for their actions swiftly.

We all know where the limits go.. A couple words said in anger hurt nobody, we're all capable of that. But when it continues to the level of disrespect for the others, it's time for the loud-mouth to leave IMO.

There may be a way to effectively maintain a pleasant community atmoshere with permanent squelch lists.   You don't like the comments someone is making?  Squelch them.   The person who is the object of the most squelches during a tour could be suspended or removed.

One thing I like about this is it takes the pressure of policing the community off of HTC, and leaves it up to us.  A person removed in such a way can't attack Pyro or HT, because the whole community had input to his removal or suspension.

You'd want to be careful how this was implemented, so that an organized squad or two couldn't be responsible for removing a player.  But if the squelches are by a broad cross-section of the community, I think HT could be justified in removing the player.  At the very least it'd give HT or Pyro hard numbers about how disliked a player is in the community...

It seems what this community needs is sensitivity awareness courses.  We need to get more in touch with the needs of other players and learn how to make things better for everyone.

I propose several on-line sessions with Stuart.  Just starting with some self-affirmation would be a great step in the right direction.  Then we could move on to why it is bad to dog a musicle genre because it might hurt people's feelings.

Nuttz,

You've been ready to go for a few months.  I'm sorry for that.  I wish you'd stay.  I also wish you didn't take the time to finger someone as the root cause of your departure.  I know its not the case.

Your actions are no better than anyone you cite as reasons for you leaving.  The actions of people that join this thread condemning the community for being so condemning need to seriously rethink their posts too.

Basically, your work here will be missed.  It was an excellent contribution.  Most wish it would continue and that you'd stay.  I simply wish you'd make up your mind quietly.

ahh heck.  What I think some of you might be missing is that one incident does not make a decision like this, all you see is the straw that broke the camels back.

Nuttz take it easy, and see ya in the virtual skies.

I sort of like Oboe's idea.

Let the HTC computer keep track of the number of times a player has been squelched by anyone.

Don't do anything with the info until the end of the tour.

Then post  "Squelch Stats".

Deja can then use his bot to post a "top ten" list. We could a few categories like "Most Total Squelches", "Most Squelches on CH1", "Most Squelches on Country Channel".

It wouldn't identify who did the squelching, just who the entire community thinks deserves squelching most often.

Maybe this would serve as the necessary "peer pressure".
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Yes I agree. The community should have a means of self regulation..

The player community lives in a weird combination of dictatorship (HT) combined with anarchy (dweebs)

HT is reluctant to do anything to the anarchy for several reasons, money, false accusations etc. However I think he will soon find out that if nothing is done, the whole game WILL have bad spirit and the old time people who really are the essence of this game will move on.

We must plee HT to give us a way to self-regulate. We love this game and I'm sure no-one of us wants to see it go down the drain.

At first I wasn't going to reply, but i must
First this is not a theatrical "i quit post" Or references to those other guys. I quit before very quietly and came back because hostile shores grabbed my interest ( the reason I'm now Rash not NUTTZ).  The boards have degraded into pissing matches, positive and game enhancment post get little to no recongnition ( looking at Gnappo's and Jihads post). That maybe the start of the reasoning for leaving but still hardly enought to leave. Am I on "another beta"? Yup been there many months and my name was linked, I never hid that fact. But I still had an AH account and flew regularly. Everything offline is really really going well. But the banter online has gotten steady .squelches, people picking fights just because they " feel like arguing with someone"  Well, like everyone else i plunk down my monies to get my personal enjoyment outta this game ( knows "this is NOT a game" comments will flood in" ) lately logging into the MA is like stepping into a 3rd grade pissing match, totally unenjoyable to me. I have Thick skin, but this is really getting old, last night was the last straw to break the camels back. Somebody was having a bad night and set out to make people around him more miserable, well you acomplished your Goal <S> I wanted to let that person know, so the reason for my " I Quit Rant"

NUTTZ ( Rash)

"Let the HTC computer keep track of the number of times a player has been squelched by anyone"

Toad. I get kicked out of  H2H arenas all the time. I never said one word. My only crime. Long kill streaks.  Guys like Artlaw would be squelching anybody that shot them down.

People like citabiera, torque, and maybe even you, would be on the squelch list the day it started.
