Radeon 8500 Stutter
« on: January 18, 2002, 09:54:47 AM »
I've got a new system I put together a few weeks ago.

Soltek SL-75DRV2 Mobo (kt266a)
Athlon XP1600
256MB DDR
Radeon 8500 OEM (250/250)

I'm using Windows ME and running Aces at 1280x1024 32 bit color, I'm having a problem with severe stuttering when flying through smoke.  I'm using the latest 9008 drivers for the video card.  Anyone else using the Radeon and having troubles like this?  Thanks for the help.

Make sure you dont have high quality fsaa (smoothvision) enabled, cause at 1024x768 smoke is not a reason to stutter.  You will see a big framerate hit, but no real stutter.

I play on a similar system and get 40-50 flying low around a large field with smoke, and never drop below 26-30 even when flying right through the stuff....and thats at 1600x1200 32bit
