WHAT's THE BEST APACHE SIM?
« on: January 16, 2002, 01:45:26 PM »
Hey guys, I need some advice from the gaming experts out there. I am looking for a sim game for the AH-64 APACHE. I am looking for someting that is VERY realistic - something on the level of Falcon 4.0 of that class. What is the best one on the market today?
Thanks guys. !

Apache vs Hokum
While the graphics aren't as good as the ones in Gunship!, it's  a far better sim.
The Dynamic campaign is quite good as well (And difficult!).
You can probably pick it up from the bargain bin (I did over a year ago).

Isn't it Apache vs. Havoc?

You can get Comanche vs. Hokum, and if you have Apache vs. Havoc, you can fly the Apache and Havoc with the updated graphics, etc. from Comanche vs. Hokum.  I've only played Comanche vs. Hokum, and it is very demanding, but well done overall (though I wish it had snap views.)

Enemy Engaged: Commanche vs. Hokum is the best helo sim I've ever seen. The manual is the size of a small manual and it has a very steep learning curve. But if you're looking for true realism, it can't be beat. I've had the game for a couple of years and have only ever played a few missions because the amount of stuff you had to learn and do made it seem more like work than fun. :)

Thanks Guys, !
As a matter of fact I just happen to have to have the ENEMY ENGAGED: APACHE VS. HAVOC game. I got it as double set with MIG ALLEY and neither has a manual so I have yet to figure out all the buttons and gizmos and how to run the game. Seems to be a good game but the Readme file doesn't have any discription of what the keys do or how to set them. (MIG ALLEY does).

Would someone out there who has the APACHE vs. HAVOC game tell me what buttons to hit to leave the game? I can't get out and have to turn the computer off and reset it. Pain in the Kazoo!

Thanks.

Enemy Engaged is a very good helo sim but so is Longbow 2 (LB2). There is now a patch out that allows you to play LB2 on faster machines with different video options. Check out the message boards over at SimHQ and go to the Helo board they have there. Very good information in it and I think they still have a board up dedicated soley to LB2. I know they think highly of Enemy Engaged over there on that board as well.

without a doubt, Jane's Longbow 2 is THE best.
