Attempted kill steal?

Did they try to steal your kill, or save you butt?

Kill stealing is shooting at a plane that is already missing important parts, I.E. = wing.

Thank you eskimo, I forgot that the P51D had a tail turret!  Good thing those guys saved me, the tail gunner must have had me lined up for ages.

Dinger, there werent any other bandits nearby.  In fact, when the P51 and I started fighting, the only person nearby was a PT boat.

fdiron,
Just because you were on his six does not mean that you were going to win the fight.  You proved that by taking so long to fight that you let a 1 V 1 turn into a 3 V 1.  If you "had him" what took you so long?  What were you waiting for?  There are many folks in here who could have turned the tables on you and killed you in 5 seconds flat.

Fdiron they were trying to help.  If they really wanted to steal your kill, they would do what I do.  Get on the friendly's low 6, shoot some tracers past him, and hit the 6 call button.  He'll do some crazy evasives and you can finish off the bandit by yourself.  :)

Once I was defending my own airfield and was shooting a P38 from quite a long distance when somebody with more speed than I had rose from nowhere straight into my line of fire to shoot the p38. Lost my elevators in the same instant and plummeted to earth without having time to eject. Now that was effective!
No whine here though. The distance was long and I did not use tracers so the other guy did not have no way of knowing I was firing. Gotta be more care ful next time...

Was flying in the MA today and I got into a 1vs1 fight against a P51. We were having fun until another friendly came (haa) and started making gun passes at the P51 (I was on his tail firmly). I promptly typed in "haa screw off". To which I recieved no reply. Then another plane (Cathy) joined in and started making passes on the P51 I was dogfighting. Now heres the situation. I was firmly on the 6 of a P51 in my LA7. These 2 'friendlys' came in and tried to still my kill.

I didn't film this fight, but this is how I remember it (vaguely):

More planes had been involved, but the P-51 was the last enemy left. I had been fighting some other plane when I spotted you two scissoring on the deck. On my FE it looked like the P-51 had you outscissored, I saw it firing several times. I started to make passes but missed with my first shots. And no, I didn't see your message...
I am certain that the P-51 shot down one plane before I got him. Was that you or someone else?

Anyway, I am sorry if I stole a certain kill for you. It just didn't look that way to me. Afterwards I was feeling a bit ashamed of my poor gunney that let the P-51 get that kill...

If you want 1 v 1 fights go to the dueling arena.  There is always friendlies about in the MA except when u need them. :D  (and then sometimes they are there then to save ur butt :) )

As for this part of ur post

If you cant kill a P51 on the deck with an La-7 in 5 seconds you probably dont deserve the kill :)

Jokes apart, welcome in the Main, if you wanna kill your SA should monitor both friends and foes ;)

teach ya to play with your food.

I have watched people take forever to kill a con...  Sometimes 4 guys will be down there fighting with one con and he ends up getting away.  I kill anything that is still capable of fight or flight.  I don't care if a friendly "thinks" he can kill the guy in another sector or so.

I fly a plane with 6 fifties.   I have about 40% assists.  It's a reality of the game.  If I don't kill quick or hard then someone with a cannon plane will finnish him off and get the kill.  No big deal.  If I am engaged with and enemy and scisoring... By all means come over and kill the guy for me.

One Of my  favorite passtimes is to be 1-2K above watching four or five friendlys chase one con all over the map great pucker factor :D . but after about 20- 30sec i start getting bored and drop down and waste the con and fly away with a big :)
But if its a 1on1 i try to wait till the friendly gets in trouble then ill jump in most of the time;)

"I thought I was deserving of the kill"

In all honesty if you deserved the kill, then it would have been awarded to you.  The MA is nothing if not fair:  Everybody starts with the same opportunities.  At the end of the day the number of kills you got, the number of times you got shot down etc.. etc.. are all a direct result of how you took advantage of the opportunities present in the MA.

Personally, If I don't want my kill stolen, then I keep firing untill the badit explodes into a fireball.  Otherwise, you just leave the possibility of a "steal".
