Problem! HTC? Pokie?
« on: February 01, 2002, 02:08:20 PM »
OK, I redid my bridge and it looks really good, Bridge is 190 feet high and across one water tile wide.,,,,

The Runway ( 1 sector long) is transparent,,, So ( follow me here)

I duplicated one and flipped it 180degrees ( so you can see the bridge from underneath)
PROBLEM:  you can see threw it!
FIX: I laid down side by side sets of Srtaxi  over the runway!
PROBLEM: setting them to bombable, GV's Cannot cross them ( they fall trew)
FIX: set them to runway and they are crossable
PROBLEM: they Stop crosssing the bridge at the point water  and the land tiles vector.
SIMPLE FIX: set that water tile to grass, GV's CAN now completely cross the bridge.

BUT i want the bridge to cross water.

SO i have the runway tile at 190 feet high, the inverted runway at 188 feet high and the SrtTaxi at 189 feet high. So since the Runway is transparent and the STRtaxi isn't it Looks GREAT!!

BUT!!!!! the GV's STILL stop at where the water and land vector.

So i dropped the STRTAXI down to 180 feet high and the Runway still at 190 High AND still the GV's STOP at the water line.

WIll this ALWAYS happen because the STRTaXI tiles is below the GV's even thou the runway is above it?

ANY work around? Because i REALLY want the bridge to cross water so ships can pass underneath.

ALSO: Does the CV still need 2 water tiles wide to run up a "river"?

HTC? I want to finish this map over the weekend,,,, Please please  Give up some tricks:)

P.S. If i lost you i can post some pics.

I think I understand what you are talking about and what you want to do Nuttz.

1) I take it, that you don't want to use the RUNWAY shape to cross the water?

2) You want to use STRTAXI's instead?

3) If yes to Question 2 then are the STRTAXIs a single lane or more wide?

4) What is the slope of the land at the center ( blue vertex ) of the land grids on either side of the bridge section

P.S We can hook up again tonight if you want.

That what I thought you were doing.

Here is one solution that will work but I will be doing some more checking on what I was making.

Ok, just uncheck the "Can Collide" box for all the STRTAXIs on the RUNWAY section of the main span.

The RUNWAY section must have the "Can Collide" box.

Now this may open new problems.

1) Like are you looking at having your bridge destroyable.

2) Are there any spawn points on the bridge

YES, look at the "circle" I have a GV spawn point On the bridge at 190 elevation ,,,,,, No problems with the spawn point. I will remove the spawn point as soon as i finish the ramps to get onto the bridge. I'm just using the spawn point as a place card till then.

I'm about 1/2 hour from going home. I'll send the link to the >oba .res files then.

That ok, I'll wait to hear from you.  Doing some experiments with the shapes.
