That fight lastnight is what lazs is talking about me thinks. Our field wasn't that far away and there was a variety of aircraft there. SpitV's, A6M's, F6F's, P47's, 1 F4U-1A
. Yes, there were La7's and P51's but they didn't have much of an impact. The fights were "pick the pine needles outta ur arse" low.
I saw all of you guys up there last evening. Unfortunately I was having intermittant trouble with a pot on my joystick, which was causing me all kinds of grief. so, if any of you saw me inexplicably roll over and dive into the ground, or simply enter into an flat turn, only to be waxed forthwith, you may have wondered what the hell that was all about. Every time it happened I started getting warnings about moving my controls too quickly (which I wasn't) in the message buffer, and the controls would lockup at whatever position they were in at the moment of failure. Made for a rough night. Tonight, I'm buying a new joystick or disassembling the one I have and clean the pots. Five suicide deaths were enough for one evening.
Anyway, when the controller wasn't humping up, I found myself enjoying that never-ending brawl. Can anyone explain why some guys insist on fighting in the weeds flying Mustangs? And, who was that Knight flying the F6F, who refused to fly out beyond ack range? Everytime I went after him, he'd run for the acks, and I would break off. Every time but once when I figured that killing him was worth getting blasted by the triple A. I hit him hard, but that damn Hellcat wouldn't die. Meanwhile, the acks got me but good.
If I'm not mistaking, Mathman shot an N1K2 off my bellybutton while I was wrestling with my controller problem. Thanks for the help.
My regards,
Widewing
