New and and more mannable field acks please. HTC comments?

We could use something like several manned Quad 20mm Flakvierling.  And perhaps some quad .50cal mounts.

The new ack modeling makes it beyond easy to kill the acks and it results in almost immediate ack down vulching at the start of any attack. Maybe more mannned and more lethal ack could help the situation. Or maybe put ack back the way it was before.

But anyway I think (Note for SW: I think as in my opinion and not in anyway personal insult or offense to you SW) the current ack situation is unsatifactory and some more mannable ack or revised AI ack could help balance things out.

The current base capture model seems to be just that, instantly all kill ack and vh then vulch till the goon comes. Again I feel, as may others that this is kinda silly.

HTC and almost everyone else what you guys think?

And SW I dont even wanna hear it.....

Gotta admit I agree with this. A few variations as far as manable ack goes would be a good thing. Throw in some 88s similar to the 5" guns (both AP and AA ammo) and you'd have player-controlled AA/AT guns. Now the fun part; where to put them? If you added any more acks to a field there wouldn't be much room between them. Make it a little too easy to knock out five acks with one 1k bomb. Maybe place them a bit away from the field, like the coastal guns are now.

Yeah, you may be right, Grunherz.  On the one hand, I could tell you that you should up fighters at a distant field and rush to defend it.  That's what we do.

On the other hand, you were flying Knight, right?  And the Knights were once again with low numbers.  It's tough to get enough fighters up.

However, Aces High is about *base capture.* It isn't about who the best fighter jock is, it's about organizing field captures.

Grunherz, I don't know that I'm right, but wouldn't your suggestion lead to a stagnant arena?  An arena in which base captures were rare?  Maybe your suggestion would work if they removed DAR bars for all aircraft that are 500 (or less) above the ground.  Dunno - I'm sympathetic, but I don't know the answer.

hell no. Im sick of single ping kill ack.

Want more ack? no problem, double the amount of guns in the field, I dont care. But for feks sake, remove that single ping kill ability! Make the field AI guns be mostly 30 cal and 1 or 2 .50 cal. Let the 37mm/cannon guns be MANNABLE only.

CV can hit u from 4k in the middle of a dog fight !

in real life hvy AA was good v bombers but never against fighters !
