Noseart Design - what are the specs?
« on: April 15, 2001, 03:13:00 PM »
I know it has to be a 64x64 8-bit Bitmap - are there any other constraints?

How do you get transparency effect - i.e. what RGB colour is read as transparent by the game?

Looking at other squadron bitmaps, it seems to be grey and RGB (176,176,176) seems to be common. Is that right?

Thanks alot.

Correct Koba.  Easiest way around it is just paste your image onto another noseart in your squad directory and then cut away the edges.  Use your paint dropper to use same transparency to make yours right.

At this rate I'll have to stick a page on my site about nose art!

64x64 BMP file, 256 colors. Transparency is RGB value 176-176-176, it comes out to be gray. The hot pink may also work, but I haven't tried it yet. The art in my sig has a gray transparent background.

Thanks guys.

I'm just trying to improve our existing noseart. Here's what I'm thinking of:
