Can't connect to host?
« on: January 21, 2002, 01:51:47 PM »
Since last night, for no apparent reason, I can't logon to AH.  I get a "Can't connect to host" message.  Alternate route doesn't work either.  WHat is going on?

mine did the same exact thing only 2 days ago.  I'm still waiting to see if anyone has ideas.  I emailed tech support, but still no reply from them yet.......will post when fixed

Are you still able to connect to the internet and surf through a web browser? Before you lost the connection had you installed any software, configured any hardware or software? Installed a firewall since or before?
Try  to run a tracert to tpl.hitechcreations.com
You can do this at a command prompt or goto http://www.pingplotter.com and get there software that will do it and give you a graphical image of what is going on.

I surf normally and can ping and trace route to the server just fine.  I just cant log in.

I did update to zonealarm pro last night, however, even if I turn it off I get the same message.

I downloaded pingplotter and it wont connect to host either.....funny, but it wont connect to ANY website.  I was messing around with video settings and such before mine crashed but I didn't think that would matter....maybe it does??

It runs fine in offline mode.....does that make any sense??  Maybe I deleted a file I need by accident, but its not in the AH directory because I've reinstalled it twice and no luck.....

thanks for the suggestions

I did everything you said you've tried.  It's a complete mystery to me.  I simply can not connect to host.  WTF?

Pingplotter should tell you something...

Try tracing tpl.hitechcreations.com with pingplotter.  That should point out where the problem is.

Now, it sounds like pingplotter isn't working for you.  Can you describe exactly what you mean by that?  What happens after you press the TRACE button?  Wait a while if you don't get anything right away, and let us know what you eventually get.  It should show you SOMETHING, even if it's that it can't resolve the name, but it may take a few minutes to show an error.

This may be related to how you are connected to the 'net.  Please give some details on that connection, and any firewall or sharing hardware or software you are using.

It's amazing how a format/reinstall fixes most winblowz problems.

Ii don't think this is a "winblowz" problem.  I apply the patch and BAM no AH.

Everything else works fine, email, browsing, etc.  Just no AH.

I will re-download the 22mb version tomorrow and see what happens....
