hate to use a cliche, but it takes a real man to walk away from a fight. All Junta had to do was get his kid and go home. From there, if the hockey team was in an officially sanctioned league, call the league offices and report the other father's attitude towards him, and more importantly, the way he was conducting the practice.
I don't know where or why it started, but some parents are out of control at sporting events for their kids. It used to be about fun for the children, and only the kids took it semi-seriously. Now the parents NEED their kid's team to be the best, and only winning is important. Awhile back, not sure when, a bunch of parents took exception to the way a ref was calling a girls U-14 (maybe U-12) soccer match. They taunted the ref during the game, and after the game, followed the ref all the way to the car, and was threatening the ref and the car with physical violence. A couple of other parents diffused the situation long enough for the ref to leave in peace. The real kicker in all of this? The referee was a 17 year old female. A bunch of 30 something dads threatening to beat an underage girl and trash her car because she wasn't calling enough fouls. The real losers in this case were the kids of the team. Their parents got the team barred from playing in the league for a minimum of 6 months, and a maximum time of a written and signed apology to the ref. Didn't read anything else on it after that.
