"...open door to victory against Japanese!"

Allied naval forces have seized several key islands in the Solomon Islands Group.  These islands contain key airfields and naval facilities that are inside the Japanese defensive parimeter.

As soon as the airbases were secure, the USAAF and USMC began ferrying in heavy fighters and medium bombers to take over operations.  This will allow the US Navy and Royal Navy carrier battle groups to  shift their operations to a new axis of attack, further complicating the enemy's defense.  Admiral William "Bull" Halsey was quoted as saying, "Now that we've kicked the door open, it's time to move in and clean some house."

Looks like the Allies are making progress in their offensive.  I was a bit worried about the rather long distance between active Allied and active Japanese bases in the initial set up.  It looks like the Allies were bothered by that to...and took appropriate corrective measures :).  Nice job, but the battle ain't over yet.  Gonna let 'em get away with that, Japan?
