Award perks for success against specific pilots
« on: March 09, 2001, 08:38:00 PM »
Is there any interest in awarding perk points for killing high ranking pilots?  Perhaps if you kill a top ten (or top 100, whatever...) pilot you get a YTBD perk award.

I know perks are a somewhat dynamic and controversial subject.  Im just wondering if there is any interest in getting perk rewards for success against pilots?

Imagine the joy of killing xxxxx and getting 5 perks or something........or xxxx and getting 10 perks.

Might make for a more psychologically interesting arena.

Yeager, do you really want posse's of gits chasing someone all over the map, through ack, rain, storms, hangers, furballs and orbital bombardment, because they want to get the points from killing them? Like a gigantic game of 'Highlander'? "There can be only one!! <ZOT!!>"? People like Drex afriad to take off, because as soon as they score a kill every knobb within 15 miles comes roaring in to make sure they NEVER MAKE IT HOME ALIVE....

I'm in no danger, but still....

Great idea Yeager.  I was thinking something similar.  In essence it would be nice to have some sort of perk point coefficient based on the rank of the shooter and the "shot"  Another idea would be to have higher perk prices for the higher ranking pilots.

Why is this good?  It will help solve the problem that has been posted all over the board:  The top pilots are more likely to to get the perks.

As I've pointed out all over the board, this is a non-problem.

Why? Because it's a hopeless waste of time to try to GET perks in a perk plane, or the top unperked AC.......CHog, La-7, Niki, Dora, etc.

This is constantly forgotten (and deliberately ignored in the anti-AH propaganda found on WB boards, etc.)

For a top pilot TO fly perks all the time, he's got to spend MOST of his time flying non G10 109s, P-47s, etc.

So actually the perk system levels the playing field, overall.

I've actually killed some in an Arado...

I took my empty 234 and rammed him, only way to catch him

Both of us got insta-death, but eh it was 70 points well spent.

lol scoring better in killing high ranked people will make the whole arena chasing some few planes from <a> to
and that goes for the name instead of plane toejam also seen that in FA and it dont works at all.
better plane less points and so on more fair.

People hunt drex all the time.  I don't think it bothers him.  It's more like "meals on wheels".

Should depends on streak of killed pilot

If his streak was 0 you get 0 perk points
If his streak was 70 you get 70 perk points

fair enough

I played a game called "Tanarus" where the score for killing a player was based on how many points he had scored since his last death.  The "bounty" for each player was displayed in the roster.  The arenas were pretty small (16 people) so if you saw a big bounty and you knew the guy's style, it was quite possible to set up an ambush and take his bounty.  But then of course his bounty was added to yours, and you became the new target of the hunters.
