On 26 Jan 1943, 6 Marauders from the 19th Squadron, 22nd Bomb Group lifted off from their Base at Seven-Mile Drome at Port Moresby.  White Flight was led by Maj "Jarbo" Pace in Diana's Demon and Red Flight was led by Capt "Wabbit" Eager in Heckling Hare.  A Japanese task group was reported steaming towards some bases recently captured by the Allies.  The weather was clear with a visibility of approximately 30 miles.  The two flights climbed to 10k and proceeded to the last known location on the task group and fanned out in two seperate directions.  The task group was quickly located and White Flight made its initial run on the flat-top.  White two, Lt "Zoomy" Kraznowski in Reluctant Dragon, scored indirect hits on the CV and White three, Lt "Sabre" Jernejcic, finished the CV off.  Red flight having been vectored in made a stab at the remaining escort ships and Red three, Lt "Eskimo" Hall flying Blondies Dream, sunk a supporting destroyer.  Both flights rejoined and proceded directly back to Seven-Mile.  Enroute we overflew a Japanese installation, and Red lead and Red two, Lt "Buhdman" Barrow in Sea Wolf, renedered the base almost completely unusable with their remaiing ordinance.  The two flights dropped down below 500ft AGL for the return run home.   A lone japanese fighter was spotted trailing the formation.  After two attack runs on the formation he broke high to set up for a final bounce on us.  What he failed to notice was a friendly fighter bouncing him, he was quickly dispatched.  All six B26s returned safely to Seven-Mile Drome.

This story was compiled from after action reports based on an actual mission we ran in the Combat Theater (CT) Arena.  The Buccaneers are re-enacting typical missions the 19th Squadron, 22nd Bomb Group did during WWII.  Each pilot in the squad was assigned a tail number and name from an actual Marauder from that squadron.  The Buccaneers have 19 aircaft for the duration of the PTO setup in the CT.  On mission nights, we will fly a mission as pilots of the 19th Sqadron.  Our goal is to complete the tour with 7 or more aircraft.  I will try to post the running story of each mission.  Wish us luck.

Great idea, and good luck!

BTW what night is your squad night?  VF-27 should be in the CT every Tues & Thu 9-11+ pm CST, for the duration of the PTO setup.

Great idea and great AAR jarbo.

Just one questiong.  Last time I checked into the CT the IJN was not in possession of any carrier task forces.  Did we get one back or did you just send a bunch of your countrymen to the bottom of Davy Jones's locker?;)

edit - Just found out that the CT map was reset by yankee barbarians.   foriegn devils.

On Saturday there was a Japanese CV just off one of the Allied base.  Maybe that asset was incorrectly assigned on that day.

The Japanese begin the war with 2 carriers, the Allies with 3.(I think)  The Japanes didn't have CVs for awhile because the Allies captured their port, sunk their CVs and captured them as well (I wonder who would do such a nasty thing... hehe  :) ).

BTW, the above mentioned ship I sunk was a Cruiser.
Three of our ships had Buccaneer gunners for the entire mission: FGonzo, Kraz and Bourbon.
The Japanese pilot that chased us was Hblairison.
And the base that Wabbit and Buhdman bombed was captured by the Allies several minutes after it was bombed.
