Pedals and Compatibility ???
« on: January 30, 2002, 07:05:00 PM »
Hi, I'm new to all of this and am still learning the VERY basics, but I have a couple of questions...

I figure that using Rudder Pedals is a given need. But is anyone using the CH Pro USB's and are they worth the investment ? If they aren't, any good alternative recommendations ??

And if so, I have a HP 9795C Pavillion P-4 with a MS Pres Pro Stick, am I likely to have any compatability problems if I purchase these Pedals since the stick goes in the gameport and the Pedals would use a USB port, etc... ??

Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on this for me......

no

Basically, AH doesn't care if there is a mix of analog and USB stuff.  As long as Windows can see your controllers in the joystick panel, you should be able to map the controls in AH.

Asmo,
Just be sure that the CH pedals you get are the Pro model, USB.  The non-USB pedals work great also, but will not work with digital sticks, thus my previous post about the adapter.  I was originally using a digital Logitech stick with twist rudder, and getting pedals made an amazing difference.  Good Luck!

Well Skorp,
No one, and I mean NO ONE has Rudder Pedals in Denver that I could find, so I 2nd day ordered them on the net...but...I did get the new X-45 and my god, that MS Pre Pro was a piece of crap compared to this, I swear it's like I can turn on a dime and not even hear the stall horn, when before even in medium turns it blared constantly.
Thanks for the advice guys, if the pedals turn out to be half as good as the stick appears to be, it'll be well worth the exspense.
Course, I still gotta learn to fly, lol...

LOL Asmo,
If you're like me, the toughest part of flying with the pedals is remembering you have them. ;)   First several sorties, I was so used to having the twist rudder, every time I would get in to a real tense dogfight I would forget what those cool footrests under my desk were for... fortunately it only took a couple of deaths to realize what the heck was missing!  Good luck.

I've been using the Pro USB pedals with an MSFF1 gameport, and now an MSFF2 USB with no problems at all.  The pedals are fantastic!

Glad to hear it, mine should be here in a day or two. And other then a couple of minor probs with the X-45 and 1 major one with it, it screws my comp up when the autoconfig is on (which it has to be) I', looking forward to trying the pedals with the new stick.

Eagler,
Great, Well...It works fine for awhile, then some of the programmed functions just stop working. I maintain all the normal flight controls just lose functions on the hats and firing buttons. This also affects the keyboard controls as well. If I exit the game, Desktop Toolbar shortcuts are also screwed up, instead of opening a browser or app., clicking on them opens their properties instead. Of course a reboot corrects it.

And no, I do not normally have this problem. Just started after installing the X-45. I have a HP 9575C P-4 thats barely a year old so I know it's up to running the sim.

Also, If anyone would know how I can go about programming the RPM Increase/Decrease and Rudder Trim into the 2 Rotary Switches on the Throttle I'd greatly appreciate some info on it. Got everything else set into it fine though, just those two seem to not work right, can't seem to get the 50% detent mark to work as a neutral position.

Thanks,
Asmodai

Asmodai : This sounds like you have a profile that's not configured in the right way .

You will have many window's problems if the sge is not down right . Try to get someone to mail you one that is working good for them and see if you have the same problems . Also are you leaving the rotaries set to the center EVERY time you leave a game ?

Airspro,
I unloaded all the background stuff I had running and it hasn't locked up on me yet, but I agree...I prolly do have it configured weird, my guess is the throttle wheels so I think I'll just delete them out for now and see how it goes.

Thanks,
Asmodai
