I have to agree that Republicans do as much damage as Democrats. But given a choice between Ronald Reagan and Clinton isn't even a case of choosing between the lesser of two evils. The primary job of the President is the security of this nation. The actions of the Reagan-Bush era directly led to the collapse of our worst enemy without a single nuclear detonation. The successes of Reagan may one day be noted as the most important of any Presidency.
Reagan's trading for hostages stood in direct contrast to what he was supposed to be all about. Like Clinton, he was beyond reproach. No one was willing to convict him for lying about it. But as least he did what he did to try to save American lives and use the money to stop our enemies (whether congress liked it or not, that was his job!
).
Clinton's actions were always selfish and inexcusable.
But under the law, both should have been punished with Reagan getting the much steeper punishment for openly defying the constitution by directly exceeding his authority as President.
How come I have never heard any stories of U.S. citizens being assassinated to protect Reagan's image? Maybe George Bush's CIA ties allowed them to do so without being noticed? Or maybe the only time Reagan violated laws was when he thought the laws were in the way of his job and he didn't ever have to worry about hordes of women, body guards, and financial managers exposing his criminal activities for personal gain.
If anyone could ever turn up evidence proving that Clinton had even one person killed to protect his image, who would the real "Nazi" be? I could still call him a "Commie", because the greatest of them all killed anyone even close to standing in his way. Clinton looks like a boyscout next to Stalin.
I reserve the right to assume Bill was directly responsible for the deaths of all those witnesses against him based on the information available. Too many convenient unexplained deaths, many execution style, of people who were about to testify against him. Lyndon Johnson might be the only President I would consider as evil when it comes to killing people for personal gain. At least Lyndon seemed to believe what he was doing was in the best interest of this country.
Maybe Bill should have been included on this list too
