I cant comment on lephturn,s ACM training. I never took it. But, he knows his S&^% when it comes to setting up your puter. I pickd up 20 FPS, and my machine did'nt run this good, when it was new.

For those that havent done it. I suggest you go to his website.

Thanks easymo.

I'm actually working on an update to that page.  I am going to expand the article a bit and try to explain things a bit better, especially in regards to "msconfig" and possibly cacheing.

After trying these tweaks out when I rebooted i got a dialog box stating; You are using selective startup to troubleshoot your system. Any input, or advice about this? thx, aztec

I think you may get that once.  I don't see it anymore, and I have been using "selective startup" for a long time.

I bet next time it won't bug you, but reboot a couple of times and see what happens.  Either way, I'm going to have to make a note of that in the article.  Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I haven't used Norton Utilities in a long time airspro.

My only observation is that anything that wants to run in the background is bad.  However, Norton likely has error scanners and defrag routines that work much better than the stock ones.  Virus scanners are notoriously bad at causing pauses in gameplay, especially Norton AV.  Still, it's not too big a deal to kill the AV tasks before you play.  Basically, use any of the utilities that you can run when you need them, and disable any that wan to run in the background all the time.
