mmm, CT is fun
« on: February 08, 2002, 10:34:22 AM »
Haven't been there before yesterday, mostly because there haven't been anyone in there. Seems the problem is reaching a critical mass.

Was about 10-20 guys there yesterday: more than enough to get Sierra Hotel fights. Truly enjoyed it: even flew the 51b and D to even up the odds when  there was a 2:1 and 3:1 thing going in the LW's favour.

After this experience, I find myself not enjoying myself so much in the MA: it seems MA is basically aiming practise and evasion drills.

Just wonder what can be done to get a wee bit more players there - the basic setup is the same as in MA. Methinks the problem is one of critical mass: *I* didn't go there because I figured there weren't enough players, and I love CT stuff.

Hope some more check it out now and then. Beats the MA, IMHO. YMMV.

Actually there seem to be more allied than luffwaff there...

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

I find I'm spending well over half my on line flying time in the CT now.  A great place to work on ACM, SA, and it's even improving my crappy gunnery.  And there's nothing better than a quick game of "shoot the milkrunner"!  A little detective work to discover where he/they trying to sneak and voila, easy meat!  At least one of them seems to log off when they notice I'm in the arena. :p

It's an interesting problem, BVG.  If the CT becomes wildly successful, then complaints (HOs, gangbanged, plane choice, farging 50cals & etc) will become common in the CT.  Success usually breeds whining since your population base becomes large.

I still think the CT is the wrong solution to many of the complaints.  It is the correct solution to exactly one desire: The desire to fly Axis vs Allied and not have Axis vs Axis or Allied vs. Allied matchups.

Many of the problems in the MA can be corrected by enlarging the maps.  The current arena maps (given the numbers populating the MA) prohibit most strategic moves.  With 300-400 players in the MA (with the current maps), it is impossible to find an area to attack without looking up and seeing a giant furball awating.

First off, good fight today StSanta . I was hoping you would re-up at 5 and give me another chance. Thats why I followed you from 62.

Second, I will enter the CT with no one in there. Shying away because of low numbers will keep the numbers low. Get in there! Others will follow when they actually see people in there.

Maybe it's just me, but the community in the CT is much friendlier, and less prone to whinning. :D

I flew in the CT yesterday.  It was fun.  :)

Got my butt waxed!  That was fun too!
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
