Yes, its Doom with a WW2 flair, but damn, this game is addicting! Anyone else playing it?  Incidently, when I buy a game, it means its been a loooooooooooong time since an AH update! ;)

I have been playing this a lot lately as well.  Nothing like killing Nazis.  Very satisfying, even without the bood and gore.

The objective map based on Omaha Beach is a ton of fun.  The maps are intense, I hope an editor is released soon so that those who can make very good maps do.  Some of the maps that came with the game are a bit too small.

I was!! Still do occasionally via "The All Seeing Eye" and the MP demo map 'The Hunt.'    Been waiting for it to go on sale so I can grab it the box and enjoy the other maps. I'm really dying to try out the Omaha beach terrain.

I also plan on installing Halflife tonight so I can add the Day of Defeat 2.0 mod which I've heard is fantastic.

In the meantime it's been the AH "TOD" and the WWIOnline 14 day trial (which goes bye bye Friday and I'm not subscribing).  I'm not so much burned out or bored with AH but when I get online by 10-11pm at night I'm too tired to for adrenaline pumping aircombat that makes you think a lot. Which is why MOH:AA, RtCW and WWIIOnline have been an easy fix for the past couple of months.  If I'd not subscribed to the 6 mos AH plan back in December I'd probably be giving AH a break for a few months until I get more time to actually enjoy it more.  As it is I'm paying for AH but not actually able to advantage of using it like I used to.

The closest I've come to AH this tour has been the TOD.

I'm completely addicted to DoD 2.0, and before that MOH multiplayer.

Aye, MOH is a great game. I'm almost finished with the single-player game. Haven't had this much fun with a first person shooter since Jedi Knight.

Okay Kratzer, you convinced me...how do I go online?  When I installed the software, it asked if I wanted to install something to play it online, I declined...do I need to re-install it and load this as well?

"how do I go online?"

It asked if you wanted to install "Gamespy." And Gamespy sucks IMO.  It's not very user friendly and it  forces you to watch ads before finding being able to find a host server to play on.

Go to http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/   and install this stand alone application. Not a game mod nor do you need to reinstall anything. The installation is easy and very user friendly.  This application finds servers hosting these games such as Halflife, MOH:AA RtCW, Rogue Spear etc etc.

It's very easy to figure out.  Read some of the site info for a better description

Are there any realism patches yet for online play? My biggest get off on DoD 2.0 is the 1 shot 1 kill bit of realism.  Sometimes it takes 2 shots, but 1 usually does the trick :)  The MoH demo was too quaky for me, online and offline though not as bad offline.

I've almost baught this game 3 times. Twice I talked myself out of it and the last time they were sold out.  But since DoD I wonder if I really need it.  For a 1998 engine DoD has done alot with the technology.  I noticed swaying bushes the other night, like GR.

Thanks Westy!

Oh, and favorite weapon to date, is the Sniper rifle, one shot, one kill!

Rip, there is also a new patch that includes an in-game browser for multiplayer.

As for it being 'doom', if you are interested, I can post some brief instructions on how to modify your game so that all the weapons do more realistic damage.

Udie - there ARE servers that run multiplayer realism mods, but they seem to be pretty hard to find, and I never have a good ping to them.

The best I've found are some SMG/Rifle only servers.  The rifles will pretty much put someone down with one good hit.

When you're in Eye, look for MOH servers with "Realism" or "[CPR]" in the name. Those use a realism model.

With realism, it's a LOT more fun.

I re-installed Half-Life the other night, and tried to get DoD up, but no luck. Yanked it, gonna try again.
