Aces High/Warbirds: Sewn from the same cloth?

Isn't 3D  studio Max the software that HTC uses as well? :

This level of animation is now possible because of the ability for the
   WarBirds graphics engine to receive development files directly exported
   from 3D Studio Max and then immediately make them accessible in-game;
   this is a marked departure from previous versions that had been developed
   in MultiGen. The speedy art development that this allows is clearly evident
   when one considers that the new graphics engine has only been in use
   since mid-February and now, a few scant months later, the art for twenty
   planes has been modelled as well as an all new terrain system.

No, we do not use 3D Studio Max for modelling.  We use Multigen, which is what was originally used for what is the current Warbirds.  3D Studio Max is better suited for high poly count models used in game cinematics/animations or rendered backgrounds.  Multigen is a far better modelling tool, and I would take that over 3D Studio Max to model planes anyday.

If I had to model a plane in 3D Studio Max, it would take 2-3 times the time it takes to do it in Multigen.
