P-51D...what Hang said, cept the part about dresses...13th TAS been flyin Nekkid for 11 years:)

I suppose we are speed junkies as well as the fact that if flown correctly, we can turn with about anything in the arena at least 2-3 times....jabo works as well and not to forget, great ammo load and fuel load.

Having seen and heard them up close, they are just sexy!

I prefer the Spit V because it maintains impossible E in the vertical, turns unrealistically well, goes much faster than it ever should (it can even catch a 190D9... that can't be right!!), performs much better at high alt than it ever did historically, possesses not one but TWO overmodelled Hizooka uber 20mm cannons, can pull 180 degree turns without losing any speed to catch BnZers, guarantees me a 3:1 K/D ratio in furballs (re: Hristo and MANDOBLE), doesn't punish me for consistent high G manuevers because AH doesn't model pilot fatigue, and that's not even mentioning its numerous other unrealistic and totally overmodelled UFO flight characteristics.

The real question is why anybody would fly anything else.

My "ride" is Aces High... because it lets me fly so many different aircraft that really do have both distinctive and somewhat "realistic" flight models, and because it lets me fly them in a variety of ways... free flight, formation flying, level bombing, dive bombing, strafing (would be much more fun with infantry ;)), bomber gunners, and of course  my favorite ACM versus other people in HTH and CT formats (don't really care for MA).

As a kid I was partial to both the P-51D and the F4U-1D, so I have flown them enough to be somewhat proficient. I also spend quite a bit of time in the P-38L and P-47D. I definitely prefer American Iron :) But, due to my spending most of my online time in either the CT or in HTH teams, I have really flown Bf109 (F4, G2, and G10), FW190 (A5 and D9), Yak-9, and La-5 (La-7 wasn't out back when I was playing in Russian team fights) quite a bit too. When I get tired of being killed by Spit IXs, N1Ks, and Tempests in HTH, I just hop in an A6M or a Spit V and have a party :D

I am least proficient with the flight models and gunnery of the LW, I am at best average in Russian aircraft, I have enough time in A6M to do pretty well, but I have the most fun trying to tnb with Spits and N1Ks while flying American iron. For me, there is no greater pride (or insult to the opposition) than to beat a tnb plane in a turn fight flying a P-51D or P-38L down in the mud (below 5000 feet). Of course high-deflection snapshot shooting skills is a must and one circle too many depletes the energy American iron needs... but I am willing to die repeatedly to enjoy the challenge, and I don't always die :)

P.S. I have almost no time in N1Ks or Tempests... I wonder if I should fly them more so I know their limits better? I definitely have trouble flying Tempests/Typhoons and also fight the worst against them.

Well, you also miss the fact that it's fantastic at earning you perk points.  The more perk points you earn, the sooner you can fly more challenging and less uber planes like the Tempest and/or 262.  :)

My main ride is the Yak-9U, but I've been playing with the 9T this tour.  The 37mm sure is good for laughs.

When badly outnumbered, I've been known to grab a Spoit, or Chog.  I feel so dirty....but they do the job.

Would you feel "dirty" if you grabbed a Typhoon? Faster than a Chog, same guns...:D

DMF, I agree with the "more challenging perk planes"...its a challenge to stay alive in them!  If you get low enough in a furball, you can be creative with your Conga lines, getting them to do big S turns ! :D

C.205 and La-5 are my rides of choice. Mostly because they are underrated by opponents, and challenging to do well in. They are also very sexiful looking. :)

Hehe, I know better, remember when Krusher and I set up what ended up becoming Wild Wednesday, (we called it Monday Night Fites or something like that..in the dueling arena, unlimited planeset), there was Wilbuz, stalking everyone low with his TA152...it reminded me why the damn plane is perked so high! ;)

Whoa:) While I enjoyed thoroughly those brawls, I believe Wild Wednesday had different roots.

BTW, Did I say my favorite ride was the Beautiful and rugged P-47?

I would just love to see our D25 painted in USAAF PTO colors, maybe 348th. That would be awesome!
