I went to the MadOnion and found my score real low.

Need to know where to go to get some information to optimize my system.
Am not geek type so need step by step ways to optimize.

Thx

What is your system spec, and what was your score?

Try this.
Right click on desktop, then click on proprties, then settings, then advanced, and then Geforce 3 Additional Properties.

Click on 3D Antialiasing Settings tab at the top
Check "Manually Select the Antialiasing Mode"
Then check "No Antialiasing"
Click Apply button

Then click Direct3D Settings Tab at the top
Check "Enable Fog Emulation"
Check "Adjust Z-buffer depth to rendering depth if unequal"
Mipmap detail level-scroll down and select "best performance"
Click Apply button

Then click on OpenGL Settings tab at the top
In performance and Compatibility Options, check the first three, leave the last two unchecked
Then where you see "Default color depth for Textures"scroll down and select "Always use 32bpp"
Then where you see "Vertical Sync"scroll down and select "Always Off"
Click Apply button

Now go run 3DMark 2001 again...  ;)

Before you play any online games especially AH make sure you set Vertical sync to   ALWAYS ON !

If you leave it set to off its a well known culprit for giving you rubber bullet syndrome.

Get DX 8.1 also.  You have the latest drivers for your motherboard & chipset installed?  Check on those.

I've got a Athlon 1.4 with a vanilla GF3 that gets about double your 3D Mark score.

I didnt see your board listed, and was hoping your 256mb ram is of a DDR or rambus type and not SDRAM. If you are indeed using SDRAM you may be SOL, and thats about the best your going to get.

If not, then get tweaking, cause you should be doing a fair bit better than that.

I've been building systems and playing online games for ten years, and I've NEVER heard this before. It might result in tearing in the graphics in a game or two,but it has nothing to do with latency.

Anyways, test your card without it.You can always turn it back on.

Any links to substantiate this?I don't think it's likely, but I'd like to keep an open mind.

Sox62 I guess you've NEVER played warbirds then because there it was even a bigger problem than in AH.

I've never played Warbirds.I've played Aces High,AW,and many others.I help people tweak their systems...and disabling vsync does nothing to latency.

Exactly how would this happen?I'm still waiting to see a link from anyone that shows disabling it causes rubber bullets.
