Surround. Go into windows audio options, change the speaker system to whatever you have.

I use a Prologic 5 speaker (center, left, right, and rear channels) setup and get the full sound through it with a SB Live Value OEM.

I have run into this problem.I had to use Quadraphonic speakers settings,to get all speakers working,I run the Surround Sound system, and SB Live Platinum.
I have fought sound problems every since I have had SB Live card,Would switch, but I don't know if it would be going from frying pan, into fire.

i emailed htc support , it is only in stereo as of now , so even if you do have surround set up, you will only here it left to right not front to back etc.  even though a good system  it almost sounds that way, thanks:)

olddobe,

Do you have a VIA based mainboard?  If so, SB Live's are pure poison and can be an absolute bastard to get working.  Try one of the Hercules cards and you should be much better off.

Tnx once again Lephturn.I have a Tyan Trinty 1854s Mobo, with a Via chip,Award bios1.07.I have found that everything dealing with Via is problamatic.I have to unplug keyboard-throttle connection, to shut down Puter.I know Via is causing the problem, but I need to run it that way,to use analog to USB adapter.Heck of it is,I had it working for a bit,and then I lost it.I spend more time tweaking than I do flying! Will look at Hercules Sound as a option. Thanks again, you da man!

If you have the option, running the sound through a ProLogic decoder should give a semi-surround effect.  AH definately doesn't have any AC3 encoding (Dolby Digital 5.1) built into the audio stream, so that mode will only give you stereo.  Since ProLogic basically just examines phase differences between the left and right channels, that should activate your rear speakers when a sound goes to either extreme left or right.

I know this would work with a standalone home-audio reciever, but I don't know what sound cards support ProLogic right off hand.

VIA has an update patch that fixes problems with SB Live cards for the K133/A chipsets.  It's called the 686B bug fix.  Click on the link below to go to the VIA hardware site to download it.

Yeah I know akak, that's been around for a long time.  However, it doesn't solve all the problems... trust me. :)
