HTC, now it's turn of Italian Aircrafts :)
« Reply #15 on: February 21, 2002, 09:03:53 PM »
I'd like more Italian planes, just like I'd like more French and Finnish planes.  But lets face it, Italy was a minor player.

There are still 2 of the big 5 that have a lote more available, particularly Japan.  We need many more Japanese aircraft and some more Russian aircraft.

Bit player Italy has half as many aircraft as leading player Japan does.  The C.205 (best perk getting aircraft in AH) and C.202 (OK, useful only as a self inflicted challege, but so will the Spit I, Hurri I and Bf110C) against the N1K2 (OK, great all round killer), Ki-61-I-KAIc (not as good as the C.205), A6M5b (great turner, frusterating because everybody simply runs, except Hurris:D) and Ki-67 (remains to be seen how useful/less this is).

Karnak, go away from my thread!!! ;)

Well, Italy was the first to fall, but saying was a minor player is a complete BS.

You are wrong.

Was underarmed, sure.

But anyway was the bigger player numberwise in the Mediterranean theatre.

If you want to limit this sim to north europe, or pacific theatre, ok.

BTW dont Hijack my thread.

Naso,

I don't want to limit it at all, but right now a Med. Theatre scenario is far more of a possibility than a Pacific Theatre scenario.  The only significant Italian plane missing is the S.M. 79-II.  The Germans are also aproaching a full bevy.

The Allies need the P-40, and earlier P-38 and the Beaufighter.

Japan has practically nothing to offer a scenario.  The 2nd great carrier power has one, one, carrier aircraft.  The Brits have as many.

Also consider that the Med. Theate is, like the China Burman India and Finnish Front, a minor theatre compared to Weastern Europe, Easter Front and Pacific theatres.  That isn't to diminish the efforts or sacrifices of those who fought and died on those fronts, simply the fact of which fronts were the biggest.

I agree with P40, and Beafighter (i would LOVE to fly it, was one of my loved when i was child).

Btw, I'm just asking for 1 italian plane, now that japanese are receiving the ki-67, and i have suspect that this time maybe the surprise is the ki-84 .

I'm asking that in next release, in the pool of the usual 4-5 or even 6 new planes, 1 will be an italian one, seem so absurd request??

I always said that I want any single plane ever built  in WW2 from any nation, and I hope soon or later HTC will satisfy my dream, btw, what I'm asking is:

"can I have 1 italian plane in next version?"

Nothing more, nothing less.

make sense?

:)

P.S.
Hijacker!!  ;)

He219 couldn't break 400mph in reality.  It never lived up to the manufacturer's claims of the speed it could make.

And as Kratzer said, the G.55 (and Re2005) were not slow.

An Italian bomber would be a good addition, but they were all so ugly.  Which one could carry several torpedos?  That's the one to add.

I like this idea a lot. It seems to fill a lot of the reasons I was asking about in a previous post.

Numbers Produced? Not a big reason, since there were only  536 built according to Brady's source
Main Arena Utility? I think that another Torpedo Bomber would find a home in the MA.
Equal Representation (or more equal anyhow) of Nationalities? That's how this all got started
Scenario Utility? Would be usefull in a Malta Scenario, or North Africa perhaps.
I just want it damnit and piss on those who don't? I'm sure someone feels this way
Combat reputation?I don't know about this one
Public demand? Hmmmm, not too much (as opposed to say the P-40)

It seems like a good idea to me.

Whats with this always wanting the fastest planes BS?! Have (some of) you people no feel for the history, no love of the planes themselves?! (chuckle...)  Some of us like the early-war planes, and as for which fronts were important, well, imagine the consequences if the Axis HAD got their hands on the Middle East and its oil supplies.

Every darned MMOL WW2 combat flight sim game thus far seems to have focused on US  planes, a minimal few that the US fought, and slanted the lot towards late-war planes.  Full marks to AH for starting to pull away from that regime a bit (Lancaster, IL2, Macchis - all good to see), and they certainly shouldnt be discouraged from bringing out another Italian plane. The SM79 would be my choice, followed by the Fiat G55 (I'd love the CR42, but maybe another day, eh? ), but the Sparviero would be just as nice to have as the SM79.

I'd happily send the Hitech crew a bottle of wine if theyd bring out a He111, Do17 or Do217, though.... :-}

But Sparviero or SM79, pleeeasseee!

Esme,

I agree with your sentiment, but I still think we need more Japanese aircraft before we need more Italian aircraft.

Truth be told, if I were to simply request the aircraft that I want, I would only be requesting British aircraft with a sprinkling of Japanese aircraft.  I simply am not interested in flying US, Russian, German or Italian aircraft.

However I don't think that would be good for the game or fair for other aircraft fans, so I request the aircraft that I think most appropriate at a given time.  It annoys me when I see others who can't seem to request an aircraft that isn't US or isn't German.  I just don't understand how somebody could think that only US or only German aircraft should be added.
