I've thought of this myself.

Sometimes there isn't a field close enough to an enemy field for the GVs to be able to get there.

They are quite handy.

An aircraft that could transport 2 to 4 GVs would be awsome !

Hehe..Gigant? Me323E-2/WT (Waffentranger) Gigant, defensive armament of 11xmg151/20 and 4xmg131 with 600kg extra armor. Wet dream of ackstarrer.
Think about that with AH gunners!!!

Normal Me 323 was huge sitting duck, even if it could absorb a tremendous amount of punishment. I read about RAF hurricanes shooting all their ammo on one without getting it down. B-26s and fighterbombers were used to kill these things.
