F8 Pan View Mode Problems??
« on: February 27, 2002, 10:59:10 PM »
I can't seem to get the Pan View Mode (F8) to work right any more. It seems when I hit the F8 key to go into Pan View Mode it immediately has me looking straight down, and no matter what key or view hat I hit it won't move from that position.

I used to have it working just fine, but I must be doing something wrong.

Also If I remember right this is the way to get a view while using the heavy ship bombardment guns. If there's another way please let me know.

Thanks,

I think you need to hit one of the outside views first, such as F3, and then F8?  Otherwise, sorry not sure.

Thanks, I tried that, but it didn't help. It appears to be locked in the down view. I'll bet it's something quite simple. Maybe someone will spot the problem.

Have you checked that you haven't by accident reassigned the key function via the keyboard mapper?

Does the F8 key function as it should in other applications?

Try assigning the function you want to another key via the keyboard mapper and seeing if you can isolate where the problem lies.

Thanks for the ideas. After narrowing it down I reasoned it must have something to do with calibration, since everything else was set up and working fine. I found the View Pitch and View Yaw were set to an axis on a stick used for other functions. This caused the view to lock looking down when I went to Pan mode. When I set them to none I got control of my keypad, and the stick hat assigned to send keypad commands. That gave me control of the views in Pan Mode.

Now I just have to remember that when some new version resets everything hehehe.

Thanks again.
