Interesting occurance...twice now
« on: March 01, 2002, 03:43:26 AM »
Perhaps this should be in the Bugs forum...but here goes...

Twice now (in a 48 hour period) during my second sortie after logging on...once after splashing into the water, and once after bailing out resulting in a capture, I launch again (both times in a 190) and fly towards an enemy airfield to engage in combat.  Once I arrive at my destination, I try to engage tiny dots of aircraft (which I also see on radar) but I never seem to get close to.

Actually I know I'm in the heat of battle because the dots are moving so fast I know I'm right on top of them, but the aircraft models never expand, nor do I get the Red or Green friendly or enemy aircraft tags.  Furthermore I check the clipboard and radar shows I'm in the middle of a furball...but still don't get anything. I'm relatively confident nobody else is seeing me since I'd assume that since I'm incapable of seeing anybody, if they could see me I'd be shot down numerous times during my lazy flight path through a furball.

I haven't made any changes to my 'puter in the last 6 months, nor has my network configs changed.  If I quit out of AH and rejoin, all is fixed.  It only seems to happen after I die in the arena.

Furthermore, once I found this phenomenae, I'd Tower at a base, change to a base which has numerous country mates flying around, and I'd see the same problem.

This has happened to Doodoori and I at H2H host Jimboy's arena, usualy cannot get a netstat when this happens.
Usually no netstat happens only in especially lagged H2H servers.
Have it taped but have not checked to see what it makes for on film.

I've had this same thing happen a few times.  For me, it was caused by my personal firewall (Norton Internet Security).  Since diabling the firewall before booting AH, I have had no recurrences of the problem.
