The reason why M$ dropped FA3?

From a gamespot review of CFS3:

" Additionally, an enhanced multiplayer component will let players fight together--even man different positions of the same plane--in one of several persistent servers that will simulate the air campaign of the European war, much like Kesmai's Air Warrior series did in the mid-1990s.

That's not surprising... no reason to create competition for their own sim, CFS.

VR1's Boulder office is a stone's throw from mine - just across the road.  If you want, I can go over there and strong arm them into making a GOOD game.

I downloaded and tried FA3 today.

Ugh.

The aircraft models look pretty good - when you are up close.

When they are a little bit further away, they start to look average, and a bit further, they change them into a BOX - it looks awful.

The buffs have auto gunners, and a B26 did a split esse while the gunner tagged me.

The clouds are nice.

The terrain looks okay from high alt, but pretty weak at low alt.

The damage effects are great - one of FA2's good points as well (the smoke is much better now), but the weapon effects are shoddy - they look like FA1 lasers.

There were exactly ZERO people in the Advanced room.  Go figure.

The crappy view system and limited FOV makes anything but their superman-view intermediate model worthless.  They don't even let you hold down 'up' and a hat direction to look up at 45 degrees, which means you have to use padlock, which will pick up cons that you can't see (e.g. cons that are under your fuselage).

It doesn't look nearly nice enough for its high system requirements/suggestions, and is essentially the same arcade game that FA2 was with a fresh coat of paint.

Not surprised.

"16 player coop's..." are hardly what I would call MMPOG as FA was (is).  While not an impossibility I just don't think they have plans for CFS III to be a MMP for FA.  Since "The Zone" is reportedly a money pit I'm not sure it will be replaced at all.

Just tried again - this time there were some people in an Advanced room.

I don't know what they advanced, other than the onset of my headache...  I yanked and banked as hard as I could, and never stalled, rarely blacked out...

The advanced arena I went into people spawn in the air, randomly, all over the place, so the fights are retarded.

I remember FA2 being a lot better than this is.  I maintain my stance that the only thing it has going for it are the close up models, and unceremoniously uninstall it from my computer.

Ho, ho ho

The same ole BS al the time. My game is better than yours. I used to do that as well.

We are eight guys that taken the opportunity to fly FA3 "gold" BETA for free until April and we do like what we get. I tried them all and ended up in AH and been here for quite some time.

There may be all kinds of reasons why people here dont like FA3 but surprisingly enough you find very similar arguments in FA3, WWIIOnline, Il2 -communities. Typical My sim is better then yours.

I hated FA2.5 because of the flight physics but they have fixed it. The game is in BETA and there are normally many more people flying Advance. We gonna give it a go and if we like it we stick with it. If not back to Ah i guess.

I've never seen more than a handful of people in advanced - like less than 10 - while the intermediate rooms are 100+.

The 'realistic' model in there is the orphan, and is based off of the arcade model - if you can believe that.  Because realism isn't their focus, that part of the game will never be made into a complete system, and as a result, will be empty all the time.
