VR1's Boulder office is a stone's throw from mine - just across the road. If you want, I can go over there and strong arm them into making a GOOD game.
I downloaded and tried FA3 today.
Ugh.
The aircraft models look pretty good - when you are up close.
When they are a little bit further away, they start to look average, and a bit further, they change them into a BOX - it looks awful.
The buffs have auto gunners, and a B26 did a split esse while the gunner tagged me.
The clouds are nice.
The terrain looks okay from high alt, but pretty weak at low alt.
The damage effects are great - one of FA2's good points as well (the smoke is much better now), but the weapon effects are shoddy - they look like FA1 lasers.
There were exactly ZERO people in the Advanced room. Go figure.
The crappy view system and limited FOV makes anything but their superman-view intermediate model worthless. They don't even let you hold down 'up' and a hat direction to look up at 45 degrees, which means you have to use padlock, which will pick up cons that you can't see (e.g. cons that are under your fuselage).
It doesn't look nearly nice enough for its high system requirements/suggestions, and is essentially the same arcade game that FA2 was with a fresh coat of paint.
Not surprised.
