CH Fighterstick USB Joystick
« on: February 24, 2002, 12:34:32 PM »
I have went through many joystick's in the past. Most of them are cheap joysticks. Very few have worked properly with rudder pedals. I finally broke down and bought the most expensive CH joystick I could find. I was suprised on the amount of throw the joystick has as well as its durable construction. It also has a HUGE base and now unlike others it doesn't move at all when I max G out on a plane. Although there is a problem I cannot get the 8 way hat on it to work its a POV hat with 8 directions. If anybody has any suggestions please respond to this post. Thanks! :)

You're talking about the upper right hat, correct?  That's the only one that's 8-way.  Make sure that you have mapped the correct hat in the AH setup and it should work fine.

I have the same problem with mine.  Minn is the F-16 Combatstick (not Fighterstick).  The upper right (POV) hat seems to be only a 4 position.  At least I can't locate (by feel) any detens in the corner positions nor can I see the corners being activated in the set up screen.  I have been wondering if CH put the wrong switch in.  I've just kind of lived with it though since the 4 views mostly take care of my needs and plan, one of these days, to get the pro-throttle as well and will use the throttle POV anyway.

Try this, I think it will fix you up.  Go offline, then pull up the clipboard.  Click on setup/joystick/select joystick.  Now, what you want to do is this: make sure on the left, under AH Control, you select POV1.  It should be black.  Now, goto the middle and highlight you joystick, it too should now be black).  Now, go to the right, and select POV 1.  Then click set input/apply.  That should do the trick.

Lemme know if it works!

Some of the early USB Combatsticks had only 4-way hats.  The newer ones have 8-way hats but I think some retailers still sell the old ones.
