  what a loser...........

"I think that on occasion it is important for us to speak with one voice in support of our troop efforts, and we're looking for an opportunity to do that," said Mr. Daschle, South Dakota Democra

So is today that occasion?  Back to the same ole toejame tomorrow? Next week/month?

An aide to Mr. Daschle said his office received an increased volume of phone calls after his criticisms last week but did not know whether the callers supported or opposed his stance

 er..... um..... Senate Majority Leader?

But Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph R. Biden Jr., Delaware Democrat, said yesterday the renewed fighting in Afghanistan signaled a change in administration policy by increasing the use of U.S. ground troops.
"The administration argued that ... we could in fact get the job done with relatively few American forces and significant Afghan forces," Mr. Biden said. "Now the administration has apparently concluded that it can't get done that way this time. It seems to be an inevitability. We are far from finished in Afghanistan. One of the questions that's going to be raised before it's over is, 'Do we need more military presence in Afghanistan to get the job done?'

no toejam handsomehunk what has the President been saying for the past 6 months?

Mr. Kyl dismissed complaints that lawmakers were not being briefed adequately on the war, noting that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld would conduct another briefing for the Senate today.
"It's not hard to be briefed by the administration," Mr. Kyl said. "Certainly, the majority leader has access to a lot more material than I do. Except for the specifics of operations ... that information is available to us by picking up the telephone."

see, pick up the phone and call the President, not a freaking press conference.

Here's to hoping that Senater Dashle soon goes the way of Congressman Condit....................... .........

Daschel is to his party what Gingrich was to his respective party.

I can't agree with that Rip. Gingrich helped usher in the Republican take over of congress in '94 and was a damn good leader until he let Dashle "school lunch" him and all the other socalled Republicans.

BUT I do get you're point, if it's about pushing people away from the party.....

I for once agree with you Udie, but for different reasons.

If only a politician had the courage to stand by his statements.

Daschle should have just stood up and said, "Yeah, you heard me right the first time. Next question?"

Not trying to play both sides of the fence but I agree with you.  Ofcourse if he had it wouldn't have mattered to me :D but I do get you're point.  I don't think anybody in our congress has a set of cajones, and I'm pissed at both parties when it comes to the congress (ok I'm more pissed at the Dems, but not by that much)

I don't trust any of them.  Each year I get a little bit more "disinfranchised" and I don't like it.  I'm probobly moving closer to Weazel's line of thought in the proccess.  Only I don't hate the shrub hehe.  I think he's a good man and trust him (for the most part)  Our legislative branch squealing suck though and it has for my whole lifetime.  They delegate their duties to burocracies so that they don't have to make hard decisions that could/would cost them their presious seats and pensions ;)

but whadda ya gonna do?
