I wrote to CH Products about my new USB F-16 FighterStick spiking problems.
This is the reply I recieved:Sir,
You are wrong on all three accounts.
1. The VIA chipset:
There are numerous problems with Windows 98 and the VIA chipset according to Microsoft. We recommend downloading and installing the latest VIA USB Filter Patch from the via site (
http://www.via.com.tw)or trying to get a fix from Microsoft (look on their Knowledge base under Article ID: Q232889 or Article ID: Q240075). Other users have reported that if they went to the bios and switched off - PCI master read caching - in the advanced options the problem with USB devices stopped. However if you go back into the BIOS it will be switched back on. Your best bet and sure fix is to use a different chipset for your USB host controller.
2. The Hub:
Hubs are notorious for not suppling power consistently or correctly to game controllers. Therefore we do not recommend the use of hubs only PCI to USB expansion cards with a Intel, Opti, or Lucent chipset.
3. The Control Manager:
You are at least four versions of the Control Manager too old. A latest version was put up almost a month ago and does seem to be a much more stable and capable piece of software. I would recommend removing the version you have now and installing the improved one from our web site.
I have installed the newer version of Control Manager with success.
Has anyone had problems concerning CH Products (USB) concerning item 1 or item 2 above?
Thanks in advance!
