While the new spit has more detail and a smoother finish and the cockpit is much nicer...I hope they are not finished with the shape of the nose..(looks like they are not) It is way too thin. My first impression was I was looking at a Griffon spit without the extra bumps on the cowl added yet. The general lines of the front of the old model are supperior although the details of the air intake and exaust stubs are not.  Surely looks like higher resolution skins on the wings and fueselage...
The Pony needs an update like that sooooooo bad...I would say more then the spits did.(didnt they allready update the spit IX once?)

Maybe every other new update should just be all aircraft. Spending time and resources minus a few bug squashing days? Dunno, seems like it would work, but the track record stands.

edit- Ah toejam, track record or not, Im standing on the MORE AND MORE AIRCRAFT every other release suggestion! :)

Wow Creamo, really had to hoist my flag when I read this one.

"More aircraft makes for better game play match-ups, more player happiness flying their WWII fav’s"
Lesse, you fly the Dora and the N1K as your primary, why would you want new A/C?  You hardly fly the ones available now.

..." more realism for CT maps"

Yah, you got 0 time in this tour in the CT and I think a total of 1 hour from last tour in the CT

..."scenario possibilities"..

Have you ever been in a scenario?

Nice try Creamo...try to post intelligently, but all I hear is (this)

So if I read that correctly, the company line is no longer "2 weeks" but "3 Weeks"   :p

Nice screenshots.  Noticed rounder-looking wheels and such.  I'm anxious to see the list of improvements/fixes

Droopy, please. Your not telling me you not only changed your silly 10 line fake general signature to include me right along with your mid-life Chysler, but poured over my stats to try and discount a simple “Add More Planes” suggestion? Good grief, is this part of new found spare time being a assistant to a 3rd level manager, or just some weird ongoing obsession?

-I don’t fly CT , it has 0 people when I fly after work at 3:00 am

-I won’t take off work to attend Scenario’s or TOD’s or anything those not on my schedule, and I’d not really miss flying a blue Stuka that looked exactly like a TBM for the Germans.

-I’ll fly Dora’s, and Chogs, and Spits and Niki’s and anything else I please until there are more choices. I won’t fly what I don’t like.

None of which has anything to do with discounting a suggestion why htc should not take some time to fill in the plane set. I was happy with strat a year ago.

See, I’m not so sure your hoisting anything except a hoopty studmuffingy graphic banner that just screams “I’m a internet dork, I actually think this bbs graphic is cute, I’m so witty” or maybe just ‘ I’ll argue with Creamo, just because’. Seems the latter, which is pretty ridiculous, and you question my intelligence at the same time? Or is it just you can’t stand someone making a observation about your little game, without half blowing the entire company and sending Yankee flowers?

I pointed out as a opinion I think more planes are important at this juncture in development, at least to me. Now go argue why we don’t need them with the “Unglamorous But Necessary” thread crowd.

Pongo,

CC that.  My initial reaction was that a Griffon Spit was being added, the I read the post.

The nose is definately long looking.

Maybe its the angle we're viewing it from, the shadow looks the same (are AH shadows dynamic?).

You really do need to re-evaluate this little Creamo obsession of yours Rip.  He does have a cute bellybutton and all, but the grade school method of hitting him on the shoulder because you like him just doesn't fit you.  If you really feel that strongly, tell him how you feel and maybe you two will hit it off, date a little, whatever.  Hell, you might even get some squid cookies out of the deal from Mrs. Creamo!

 Dear Creamo,

To say it fair, generally there wouldn't be  anyone  who does not
want more new aircraft, Creamo. But I hardly think the time spent
on giving a facelift for Spits would be nearly as much as developing
a whole new 3D model starting all from new wire frames.

In other words, I think we should see it as Superfly doing stuff
that rightfully needs catching up, rather than something that
deters development of new planes. Someone said "God is in the
details". It might seem useless or less priority thing to you but
I'm sure there are a lot of Spit fans thrilled with this news.

We can't keep pushing the seemingly 'minor things' down the
list indefinately. So we graciously ask for your forgivness in our
naive glee over some useless eyecandy :D

 Sincerely yours, Saint Kweassa

It's the new planes I look forward to the most each release.  This has been a very long wait for only 5 or 6 a/c.    I agree with Creamo in this case.

You know, it just struck me that a finished aircraft that has not been put in the game (I assuming the Ki.67 has been done for a while) is a waste of a resource.   Its not unlike holding excess inventory.   It's not doing HTC any good sitting there, and it's sure not doing the customers any good while its unavailable.

Its a fact of IT life that development cycles can get bogged down for one reason or another.   It may be time to think about separating aircraft introductions from version release updates, so that AH receives new a/c on a more regular basis.   Handle a/c intros the same way they handle patches or terrain updates.

I'd love to login every month or so and receive an auto update patch containing a new aircraft or two.   As we try to fill out the planeset for scenarios and CT events, deploying a/c this way would get them into the game faster, thus fill out the planeset faster.

I'm not knocking HTC here, just trying to be helpful with ideas.

Very interesting response oboe. More concise to my initial post, and quite fitting mentioning the plane introduction per update. I always thought about it, but never posted it.  Plus, I was apprehensive. HTC is rarely wrong on the game related issues/updates/direction.

Still, I think the overall player base jumps into a new plane right away in any update, not that it doesn’t discount the game play tweaks. It just seems priority.

Bug squashing is one thing, yet new planes is the driving factor to get people excited once again about the sim once it gets stale. Whether is a new ride to fly, one to kill, or a CT that resembles one with more realistic match-ups. It’s developer update time well spent.

Every release pending, guys flood the BBS with “2 weeks” 3 year old sappy jokes, people get frustrated and quit, and the rest of us wait and watch.

Intermediate updates would eliminate a lot of the foolishness. I think. Dunno, ain't militant about it either.

Just seems to make sense.

I dont think its the angle..the two shots are from nearly the same angle and the old one has a great representation of the merlin spit nose. The new one is missing the shoulders of the cowl and the chin under the nose. It is fairly obvios and the old one is very nice so SF knows the shape he wants he is just moving towards it. Nice that they are redoing the wire frames not just the skins.
