Hurricane IIc Vs II D
« on: March 12, 2002, 09:03:31 AM »
Uhmm, just took a look at the charts, these two version have the exact same speed and climb rate at all alts.
The D version is a few hundred pounds heavier as it should be.

But shouldn't the D version be pretty much slower and climb worse? Not only because of weight but also, and mostly because it's got two big *ss guns under the wings, they should add pretty much drag.

I would imagine that the slow speed of the Hurricane allows it to be less affected by drag than faster planes.

Probarly right Fdiron, however, shouldn't it be ANY drag at all? Atleast a few MPH and some decrease in Climb rate due to weight and drag.

I too would expect the Hurri 2D to perform a lot worse than the 2C.

I don't put much faith in the web-page charts; I take them as suggestions only.  Do the two Hurricanes actually perform equally in-game?  No way it could be right if they do; heck, look at what gondolas do the 109's performance and those are a lot smaller than that 40mm elephant gun.

Yeah, I think we need to bump up the IIC's performance to better reflect the difference. That should fix it just fine

There wasn't much of a speed penalty with the Vickers 40mm gondolas - only about 6 mph IIRC - neither was there a big weight penalty. Two Vickers 40mm weighed 268 kg (plus two .303 - 20 kg), four Hispano MK 2 weighed 200 kg. I think the IID was given some extra armour, though.

Thanks Tony, puts some light to it, no difference at all judging from the charts though.

Jab, I think the charts are taken directly from AH in some kind of way and they show the very exact preformance in level speed and climb, atleast that's the impression I've gotten from HT.
