« on: July 04, 2000, 01:56:00 AM »
I want y'all to see if y'all agree. I found a list of planes I thought we could use. I don't want any "That's what this BBS is for" yada yada yada. So Here goes:

Short Sunderland-British Patrol Bomber
Handly-Page Halifax-British Heavy Bomber
Hawker Hurricane-British Fighter-Bomber
Bristol Beaufighter-British Fighter
Mitsubishi Type I MB "Betty"-Jap. Med. Bomber
Kawanishi Type 97 F/B "Mavis"-Jap. Patrol Bomber
Cantirer Z-1007-Italian Bomber
Savola-Marchetti SM-79-Italian Heavy Bomber
Focke-Wulf F.W. 200-German Heavy Bomber
Dornier DO. 217-German Heavy Bomber
Heinkel HE.111-German Medium Bomber
Messerschmitt ME.210-German Fighter Bomber

So, Whadaya think?

Some of your choices I agree with, and some I don't (everyone who responds will probably say the same thing).

You have to understand that a new airplane in any sim should meet two requirements:

It should be a useful addition to the arena and/or scenario design.

It should be historically significant.

Thus, on your list above, the Hurricane and Betty stand out, while Mavis and Short Sunderland maybe do not.
Not to denigrate the Mavis or Short but really, how often would we use these airplanes in the course of normal game play?

Not really disagreeing with you, just pointing out some considerations.
