I was in front of our attack - the TBMs were in a column, and I just went from front to back - looks like I got a piece of every one of them... I was too nervous though, almost augered, and didn't concentrate enough fire to bring any down on the first pass.  Had to come around again to finish one off.  It was a fun moment!

The FDBs were given a role Friday nite as Kamikaze pilots.  Our orders were to up in Zekes with a full bomb and fuel load and find the enemy CV.  Upon finding it we were supposed to 'kamikaze' it by smashing into it with our film running.  We were ordered to not release bombs at all and that our success would be determined by how many planes hit the target...not bombs.  Because of this suicide mission, we were given a second life in which we were supposed to cap our CV.  Nifty threw this little kamikaze wrinkle in because this event was based on events that happened right around the time frame when the Japanese started to use kamikaze attacks in great numbers.

As it turned out, our complete inability to perform even a suicide mission was shown on Friday night.  Our 11 Zekes ran into about 94 Hellcats on our way to target.  Only one of us survived.  Sally was able to make it through and hit the enemy CV with his plane.

We've had Vulcan and Swoop in MAG-33 thru out all the TOD's..if you added up all their kills, you might make a new rule that those two alone are a squadron themselves. :)
