Mouse look??
« on: March 13, 2002, 03:54:01 PM »
anyone remember how to set this up in AH, i've done it before but can't remember how to do it any longer, plus i can't find it in the help files.

i remember having to map something then you had to hold down the shift key or the right mouse button to be able to have a "free look" or "mouse look" from within the cockpit.

You need to go into the joystick setup and choose the mouse for (view pitch, and view yaw) in the choose joystick option.. settings.

The mouse view in aces high is good, but it falls short from other games like, flanker2, and Il2. This is due to having to Hold down a mouse button in order for the mouse-look to function.

Hitech has stated that the mouse button has to be held down because the mouse (pointer) has other functions in the game.

Im sorry but I do not agree with that.

If anything, Hitech could it be possible.. to say.. for instance... once in F8 (pan view mode) for mouse look,  assign a key on the key board to "lock" (on/off) the mouse look function.

An example of how this could work would be... like this...

Go into pan mode, push a key on the key board.. and lock the mouse function into free-look(kinda like the key on the keyboard being the mouse button that needs to be depressed.)

if you want to View the map, and click items.. simply re-push the key on the keyboard that you assigned for the mouse-free-look, and you will now have control of the mouse (cursor).

If anything your view point from the plane should at that point just return to forward view.

Hitech what do you think? :)
