Updating older 3D models. (109)
« on: February 11, 2002, 04:13:41 PM »
When I read the news and saw that older 3d models are updated I almost went through the roof!! I'm estatic!! This is what I've been hoping I'd see quite a while now!

The age of 109s 3D models is starting to show and as they are my favourite planes of the whole set I felt oblicated to post about them. :)

First of all, once more I would like to thank HTC (Pyro, Natedog ;)) for including Bf-109G2 in Lentolaivue 34 paint scheme to AH! I for one appriciate it more than you know!!

Here's THE best profile drawing of the MT-222. IF (When ;)) you are doing a face lift for the MT-222 and you adjust the paint scheme according to it you really can't go wrong. :)

I have some internationally pretty rare (published only in finnish magazines/books) photos about MT-222. Just say the word HTC and you'll have them too.

I pretty sure you know what to fix in 109's 3d models in general so you don't need me telling you that :). One thing tough, AH model's MT-222's recratable tail wheel like it was on most G-2s, however the G-2s finns bought had tail wheel's that were made fixed by the germans. In Finland they eventually removed tail wheel's hydraulic system alltogether, so only fixed tail wheels in finnish 109s.

I'm really, really hoping to see revised MT-222 in 1.09!! ...but if it doesn't fit the schedule I understand it too. :)

One more pic:

EDIT/I forgot to mention that "the ace of diamonds-symbol" below the canopy was painted on the plane by the mechanics and remained there only for a short while and was then painted over. Above surfaces of the plane were painted with RLM 74 and underside was painted with RLM 76./EDIT

Sounds like they just did the spitfires this time around.  Hopefully 109s will make next time.

Yeah, I'd like to see the D pony get a new paint job and cockpit, and new cockpits for the 109s.

The 109E model/skin are really, really good, and the cockpit makes me drool - kudos Superfly and Natedog.

I 100% agree :)

The current status of modelling beauty on 109E-4 makes older G-10s, G-2s and G-6s look like "Aces of the Europe(by Dynamix)" in comparison.(Well.. maybe not THAT old :D ) With the grooves on the cowling guns, and that gun holes showing... it finally has that 'sinister(as some RAF pilots said)' front profile :) Not to mention the exhaust pipes rendered beautifully! I wonder if we finally can expect some definite changes, like the accurate portrayal of G-10's fat cowlings.

Another thing caught my eye: The "Schlageter" insignia.. I don't think any other birds have their Staffel/Flight Group insignias on their markings. Could this mean other 109s or fighters will also be remodelled with Staffel/Flight Group/Squadron insignias???

 :) Expecting a lot, HTC!

109s and P-51s need to be redone.

There just isn't any hope for the N1K2, its just plain ugy regardless.  It is the ugliest Japanese fighter, IMHO.
