« on: March 15, 2002, 10:15:37 AM »
Hello....

I habe CPU Athlon capable of 1.8 GHZ...

But Motherboard only support up too 1.6 Ghz....

For support up to 2Ghz I must flash a new bios on it....

In case of something go wrong....

Can I clear the CMos with the jumper on Motherboard....????

Or can I throw the board into trashcan if something goes wrong???

I be afraid :D

Flashing the bios is not dangerous.

Flashing it with the wrong upgrade is dangerous.

It's not reversable either.

It's not hard to flash ur BIOS

You need to have a bootable disk and probably have to set ur BIOS to a FLASH mode before it will allow you to write to it.

Just follow the directions on the motherboards site and you shouldn't have a problem. I've done Abit and IWILL boards without an issue.

You can also flash to an older BIOS if the new one causes problems.  That is of course if you flashed a newer BIOS for the correct motherboard.

Flashing the BIOS is only dangerous if you do not follow the instructions - or misinterpret them. Given your lack of command of English - alas most instructions are in English - I would suggest you not upgrade unless you can find instructions in your native tongue.

JV44,it's not dangerous, but you need to do it right.

Go to your motherboard manufacturers website, find the instructions for flashing your bios and PRINT THEM OUT.Do NOT trust it to memory.

Then follow the instructions to the letter.
