Well guys, I’ve just come back from a few days break in Spain (Andalucia) – what a beautiful country. Aces High had been getting to me for a while, and I needed a break from it; I had had problems getting used to a different type of community, which has arguably been overrun with a preponderance of newcomers. So be it. When I got back, I found that 1.09 was out! I like the changes, but I really like the new voice comms facility. For the first time, I feel that I’m flying amongst friends that I know. Had a good time in the CT tonight. I’ve already seen a few people expressing discontent with the voice comms, but that’s fine. I find that I get a much better picture of what’s going on. Long may it continue.

There’s something I’ve noticed when starting Aces High, to which I will refer as the White Screen of Death. I wondered if anyone else has had this? You go to log on to the online game, and a Windows frame comes up, with Aces High in the title, but the body of the window is entirely blank. Sometimes it lasts only 2-3 seconds, but many times I have to wait for 5 minutes for this screen to disappear and for the Arena list to appear. Any ideas?

It seems that one of the penalties of an arena with lots of participants is a deterioration of the server connection, and frequent disconnections. Yesterday evening, I was unable to log in at all for the entire evening. It seems that I must participate when there are no more than about 150 people present in the arena. It was the same with WB, only much worse – but I wont go into that... Is there anything we as players can do to improve the connection?  I have ISDN and get a 64K connection every time.

Damned shame about FunkedUp leaving. Is there anything we can do to get him back? I was just winging with him two Saturdays ago, and now he says he’s gone :(

i used to get the white screen - the trick is to move your mouse around....it seems to white out a giant square and your mouse shrinks it as it moves - i dont know if that is your result but it worked for me.

The white screen sounds like you accidentally deleted the mouse and htc logo bitmaps.  Do you still see the clipboard?  Also, this should be in the BUG REPORTS section.

The clipboard finally appears, but sometimes I have to stare at the white screen for 5 minutes.

Once in awhile i get the white screen when booting up the game. Sometimes only a few seconds. If it doesn't clear in 2 seconds, I hit alt+4...then game closes within 30 seconds. Re-start the game and have no problems. Thank goodness this is a rare problem for me.

I had that problem when I overclocked my old video card too high.
